Yes, BOE has not been doing anything for the 400 for a while - wonder what it would take for them to finally get moving on 400 tunes.

I'm in the market for a tune. Maybemy interest coupled with that of others will get the BOE gang motivated. Or maybe they don't judge it worth the effort. I can understand that if so.

At the moment, Champale's rig ( downpipe and Komo 430 tune) looks like the option for me but I'd eagerly consider BOE's offerings...if there were some! I'll be popping for mine next spring when my car is closer to being off warranty.

I have the Komo Tec 430 tune along with GRP cold air intake, Larini exhaust and decat pipe and am very happy with it now compared to when it was stock. My friend, nosirrahx here, has the complete 460 package along with GRP intake and Larini exhaust and his car is crazy!
GregsRaceParts and nosirrahx like this.

Current:
2018 Lotus Manual Evora 400

2018 Audi SQ5

Just a heads up. We’ve actually just recently completed the crack on the most common 400 calibration. We have two 400 cars for testing on the near term calendar. So a slow start, but it is actually moving forward.

The tune progression is

all stock
all stock with GRP 400 intake (we’ll retains tunes for the S1 Evora’s using only our our BOE intakes and the S2 400+s with Greg’s)
All Stock with headers
All stock with headers and GRP intake
(Maybe cams one day)

Just like all of our tunes, we have far more control than anything else on the market... It just takes a LONG time to test everything since it’s all reverse engineering.

Development is done in-house on our dynojet dyno (with eddy brake).

We have our TEK for the IPS cars that is a nice improvement for those transmissions. It all works nicely together to make these cars all the better!

Cheers,

Phil

For what it's worth, I'm also In for getting a 400 tune when BOE develops one. Phil built the motor and developed a tune for my Elise (even though it has a VF TVS kit) and I've been super pleased with it. Would love to have their work on my 400 as well.

We have a tune for the 400. Here are other benefits we noted:
1. Huge gains from 2000-4000RPM.
2. +28 peak WHP and +18 peak WTQ
3. Drive-ability is much better. Throttle response increased especially in Race mode.
4. Torque curve improved over factory.
5. Exhaust note sounds a bit more crisp.
6. Cruising fuel econ WAY up! from 545kms range to 720kms range on a full tank of 91octane.

Ours is a bench flash so you will need to send us your ECU.

Do you have a dyno chart comparing a stock car and your tune on the same Dyno? I've been waiting for someone stateside to sell a tune. Do you plan to do a tune for 93 octane?

See below. Yes, we can make tweaks to the tune. We will also have the hand-held programmer working. Call me to discuss

I did call Shinoo and had a very informative and pleasant conversation about their tune solution. Appreciate your time,

@shinoo , @turbophil … will either of your tunes fix the f-in heel toe throttle blip issue? Mine is really bad to the point where on heel toe's the car just bogs and ignores the blip

I actually have the KT460 kit as well and it's amazing … my dyno'ed at 382HP and 328Ft/Lbs … so very consistent. I actually just cleaned my MAF and my boost temp sensor and it made a huge difference. It's still not perfect but significantly better … so you might want to check the boost temp sensor as mine was really coated with oil. Can't wait to see what BOE comes up with though as had their tune on my Exige and it was magical.

Cheers,

Do you have a cold air intake? That seems to help you get more out of tune and the added sound is amazing

and the magic word for all of this stuff is HEAT SOAK.

JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN GET THIS ON A DYNO FOR 10-15 MINUTES OF RUNTIME, HOW DOES IT PERFORM UNDER TRACK CONDITIONS??

My bet is Lotus set the HP/Tq where it will perform under conditions they know many owners will subject the vehicle to on a routine basis. All the curves on the planet won't mean diddly if heat soak retards everything away. I want to see a TRUE heat soak dyno , meaning vehicle came in from at least 15 minutes of WOT conditions and went straight to a dyno. 20-30 HP is just number speak, driveability is usually more hypothetical and "hopeful" than reality. I have been in enough 400's to know its smooth as glass in the right hands. If you are a pedal stabber, nnothing will help you. If the pedal is more hyper, you think its quicker....NOT REALLY. I have yet to have a 400 pull me on a straight. The K&N era is over BTW. No way you will notice 1-2HP. Its in your head.

I did 3 pulls and last one was my highest numbers and temp was in mid 90's. I have experienced heat soak on my R8 V8 on a dyno when I supercharged it. But didnt seem to be an issue with my 400. And on the road going at high speeds it will get much more fresh cool air than on a dyno where it was tough getting air into vent. I also think having the louvered rear hatch with no glass will keep things a bit cooler for me

This should definitely be a concern for anyone who is modifying a car for more power that sees significant track time. However, Lotus already has a version of this car with 30 more HP from the factory that lives up to track abuse. The gt430 doesn't really have any enhanced cooling feature of significance. The only item that comes to mind is the louvered carbon fiber tailgate which can be had on an Evora 400 as well. I really doubt a tune will result in heatsoak on the track. If you start pushing to 460+ hp you might start seeing some need to enhance the cooling capacity of the car.

Question on that, is the sound level increased even when cruising along? I love the sound but sometimes I need to be in stealth mode.

Redsled, the manager of the shop you went to get the dyno / AFR checked is a close buddy of mine. He told me when your car was in the shop with the tune since he knows my Evora. Small world

Those rear louvers are, indeed a fabulous enhancement. I want to look for those for my S.
