What about Evora 414?

I think that's a good idea until we will have most efficient and lightweight batteries (fast to recharge too...)

Having on board a small fuel engine tuned to run at a constant rpm they can keep the batteries in charge.
The engine is not linked directly to the traction wheels: two electric motor do traction work.
Usually internal combustion engines have an average of 10/15% of fuel efficency because, due their mechanical limitations) they are bigger than needed.
Running at constant rpm may improve the efficency of the system.
Most of the time the fuel engine never fire up because at normal speed batteries can run the veichle.

The Evora has on board a small 1.2 litre engine: try to make 0-60 in under 4 sec whit a standard 1.2 litre car.....

With this system you can have brisky accelerations and long range too.


Waiting for technology improvement in electrical components this could be a solution to start to use electric cars (great fun car of course, not golf cart).

I really wish Lotus would bring this thing to market. It does make sense and I think they would have a better chance with sales of a car like this then most of the new line they have proposed.

I would buy one in a heartbeat.....if it was priced reasonable.

If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much space!

Isnt this sort of how Diesel locomotives work?
The diesel engine turns a generator that powers the electric motors?
