At LOG 29 the official announcement was made for LOG 30.
30th Lotus Owners Gathering
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
October 8-11, 2010
The DC Chapter invites all to attend what will be our 3rd LOG to host. We will continue to post information about the event as it becomes available. Look for the LOG 30 page when the Lotus LTD website changes. Consider LOG XXX, held in the 10th month, 10th day of 2010.
I have checked with the hotel and we currently have 1/3 of the rooms booked. The block of rooms that we have reserved will hold till the beginning of Sept.
I am looking into reports that there may have been some problems making reservations. Yesterday a power outage in the area prevented the hotel from taking any reservations.
The logo for LOG shirts is posted on the club website. Photos of the clothing with logos will be posted soon.
Friends of LOG is an opportunity to post a message in the LOG Book. The form for this is located in the sponsorship section of the website.
Speakers and guests will be announced soon.
Each LOG invites various representatives of the media to cover the event. Keep a shine on the car, you never know who might want to take your photo.
The speakers for LOG 30 are a combination of old and new. Satch Carlson was the speaker at LOG 8; he returns for an encore performance. Five years ago, we met Bob Dance in St. Louis and he became a friend of LOG. Each year that he returns to join us is a chance to rekindle our friendships with him. Bob has joined many of his fellow Lotus teammates at the LOGs and this year he joins Kenny Szymanski to help us celebrate the Sunday dinner.

As of Friday the 9th the hotel will have open booking. Our block of rooms is released and open to the public. If you still need to make a reservation please mention that you are with the LOG group to get the discount. Currently the hotel is passed 2/3 booked.
Room selection is becoming limited. If you are interested in a certain type of room you need to call now.
The LOG logos and drawings are for expressed use of LOG 30 Staff. If you want to use the LOG 30 logos or drawing you must contact the LOG Chairman for permission.
No group that I am aware of insures DE participants in that way.
The DE format and rules *may* help qualify the event under your street insurance policy (compared to an open lapping day), but that will depend on what your particular policy states. There was a time when many/most insurers would cover non-competitive, non-timed events, but over the past decade many US insurers have added clauses to exclude racetrack activities of *any* sort. You will have to examine your own policy to determine if any of its coverages would apply.
However, supplemental single-event physical damage insurance IS available. The LOG 30 track event has been qualified for the Lockton Affinity HPDE Insurance Program; individual participants may purchase insurance directly from Lockton to specifically cover track day damage. Obligatory disclaimer: the club and organizers have qualified this event solely for the convenience of participants, and this should not be considered an endorsement of Lockton's program. For more details, consult Lockton's website at: https://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Coverage.aspx?pID=2572
It's not too late to sign up for the track day, which is being held on the uber-twisty Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point. You can add it to your existing registration by sending mail and a check to the club's PO Box L address; we'd also appreciate it if you'd drop an e-mail note to let us know at <LOG30DE@gmail.com>
My Nationwide agent assures me that I am NOT covered on a track in any situation, however, the Policy Exclusions state "any pre-arranged competitive event". HDPE is not competitive, so I think legally I am OK.
If I'm planning to attend the HPDE, is there a checklist of what things must be up to date for the tech inspection? Do you have the tech inspection form?
The current car count for LOG was 178 the last time I checked. This is based on what each registrant said they were bringing to LOG.
The breakdown of cars seems to be an equal amount of old and new cars. There are still last minute entries and walk-ins that will bring the total number of cars even higher. If the information provided is correct we could see a 200 car event.
If you have not made up your mind about coming then consider that it is rare to find this many Lotus cars in the same place. Cars that have been tucked away and not seen for some time will be back on the road. The last LOG on the East Coast was 2003.
The hotel still has plenty of room. There are about 80 rooms still available as of today.
I Received a Letter Confirming my LOG Registration
Today I received a letter confirming my LOG registration. It details the options I chose (e.g., events, food, merchandise) has a schedule of events and directions. Everyone who preregistered should have received a confirmation letter or should be receiving one shortly.
LOG is just days away. The car count now stands at 200. Yes, the amount of cars that owners say they are bringing to LOG is 200. More will show up and register on site. We currently have about 420 people coming. All this just might make this one of the largest LOGs that has been put on.
The hotel still has room and we invite to join us if you have not made up your mind to come yet. Walk-ins are welcome to register. It is too late for the mail but not to late to still come to LOG.
The weather looks to be sunny and about 70 deg. during the day. This is going to be a great weekend.

Just returned from our first LOG at Gettysburg. The weather was perfect with nearly 200 cars ranging from mid 50s Cortinas to new Evoras. There were just a "few" Elises/Exiges as can be seen from the following photos. I've never seen so many at once. Had a great time. Someone said over 70 Elises/Exiges, but do not know for sure.
Due to health reason the leader of the Elan tech session could not make it from England.
