Congratulations!

Every once in awhile I'll stop in the garage my way in and look back at the Lotus parked over the top of my DD and think, "Man that's cool!"

I'm not Mike but I have basically the same lift. I installed it with the help of two friends. It probably took us a couple hours to do. There's really not much to it. It's the best garage mod out there.

Just curious, I ordered one myself and it is going to be installed next week. How high is your ceiling? It looks like you almost have to crawl out of the car to get out.

Anyone in TX (specifically DFW area) installed one of these? I'm closing on a house next week and the parking situation sucks so I am looking to get one of these installed so I can keep all 3 cars in the garage.

It's slightly wider than a standard garage and I would say the ceiling is 25-40% taller than standard as well. Looking for a good company/installer. It looks like most of the people that were kind enough to post about their setups spent 3K installed give or take for a basic 4 post kit?

I would mainly be using it for storing the Elise which gets driven rarely and also to do basic oil changes etc.

I measured my garage ceiling at 10 feet 5 inches at the lowest part and 10 feet 10 inches at the tallest does anyone know if that's sufficient to stack an Elise on top of a S2000?

My ceiling is 11.5 feet. I have tons of room for my 350 and my Lotus. That is also with a regular garage door opener. You can put a side mount garage door opener that will give you another foot or so.

Thanks, did you have to raise the rail with the regular opener?

Yes, I had a garage door company come and change the rail to go all the way to the ceiling. I kept the regular garage door opener. I had a local company deliver and install. It cost me $3100.00 installed for the lift and about $700.00 for the modifications to the garage door.

Wow, $700 bucks just to modify the rail to a taller height? Just looking at it it seems like you would just take out the current curved section, add an additional straight section and re-install the curved section closer to the ceiling but maybe there's a lot more involved than that.

it's usually more than just extending the upright rails.

they convert it to a center spring design - from a loose-sprung pulley system. They also convert the actual opener from the typical center-mount track system to a side-mount opener (http://www.garage-doors-and-parts.co...r-openers.html)

It's going to depend on your ceiling height. With a little over 10' available, I ended up with a simple door track mod to raise the door and no change at all in the door opener or spring counterweights.

Here are my Garage measurements. I'm sure you can make it fit. Do you still have a MINI too?

They had to change the rails and put in a torsion bar to get rid of the springs. With the cars you have you shouldn't have to change the garage door opener. You have plenty of room. I love having it.

Yep still have the Mini. Was planning on parking the Mini on it's own side then stacking the Elise on top of the S2000. I really don't want to have to raise the rails.

I measured 97 inches from the floor to the bottom of the rail which is only just over 8 feet. There are 28 inches from the rail to the ceiling so I'm thinking I could probably raise it 20 inches to get to around 10 feet.
