Wowsers that would be so cool for my husbandEvery hubby needs one. When we build our house I would really like to see a four car garage to fit the Lotus 260 Exige, Tundra, and dreaming a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500E Eleanor !!! I want him to have that too.

Awesome garage. I may copy your cabinets from IKEA. I shall save this thread. Take a pic of your compressor, I'm trying to think of ideas on what to do with mine.

I'll try to remember when I get home tonight but there's not really a ton to see. The cabinet you see next to the tall ones - the 36" one is a sink cabinet so it's completely hollow. Compressor is in there - then I plumbed it though the cabinets and out the bottom of the far right cabinet. Mounted to the concrete between the cabinets and toolchest is a 25' retractable hose reel. I open the cabinet door, flip on the power and shut the door. It was already a pretty quiet compressor but it's so much better now. If it fires on while you're having a conversation you can hear it but unlike other garages all conversation doesn't have to stop. I didn't really use it much before, now I use it all the time.

Ah, so its under the screen/vise. Pretty good idea actually. I may end up using that idea. I will have to downsize my current compressor, it would be too big to fit under there. But I don't use it all that often so downsizing wouldn't be a problem. I was debating running air lines to the ceiling to have a drop down reel, but I haven't decided yet seeing how I don't use it all that often. I think I may copy your cabinets, I like 'em and they match my toolbox. I'll have to go to Ikea and price 'em. Were they in the kitchen cabinet section?

Actually the compressor is in the cabinet to the left of the cabinet with the vice on it (but yeah, under there). The plumbing goes through that cabinet to the reel. I considered doing a ceiling mounted one but the additional costs (and ugly looks as I would have had to do surface mount) made that a no-go. And as I don't really use it much it just didn't make sense.

Yup, they have a fantastic online design tool. I laid out everything in that the way I wanted and headed to the store. They'll then help you with all the other stuff, feet/handles/trim/spacers/fillers/hinges/etc/etc/etc. They were really fantastic to deal with and the guy I got was amazing (had been with IKEA for 5 years, I was his final customer ever). I think it's a great way to go (MUCH cheaper than any other option I could find and they look fantastic).

Kind of what I'm thinking too, as I don't use the compressor that much. Maybe I should just stay away from it. It would be excess cost that I'd rarely use.

Just found that tool. Time to go to work on my 3D garage.

Just wondering how far from reality is Massachusetts. I think exactly like her .

I am promising myself the next house to have a great garage with a lift.

"Far from Reality" is actually Los Angeles... ever consider moving out here?
