New car, new here, and maybe new color!

Hi all . I am new here, but not new to Lotus. I'm from San Francisco and I have known Lotus owners and been familiar with them for the past 4 years and now I will have one myself.

Here's where I need your help: the 2005 Lotus Elise I just got is a salvage title and I plan to replace the front and possibly rear clam (we'll see what the shop says) which means it will get a new paint job. No worries about the chassis- inspected and stable.

I'm a chick, but I don't want pink in my car It is currently saffron yellow and I am thinking something with some pearl in the paint. I'm open to all suggestions (and picture examples). Ideas? Doesn't have to be Lotus colors...

Welcome! I personally don't think pearlescent paint would look good on an Elise. Maybe a nice metallic or candy if you want to go exotic. I think that the car looks great in yellow and orange for eye catching.

05' Elise - REV400, PPE Header, Quaife LSD, Ohlins, BOE Silent Touch, LETSLA, ACT HDSS, Fidanza flywheel, BOE CAB Intake, BOE Catch Can, V2 Fuel Tank, V2 Steering Arms, BWR sway bar, ForcedFed CF splitter, Manly's engine mounts, All Mesh Grilles, Volk CE28 wheels

This guy is local and I have seen his car in person and it's awesome https://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f92/...-inside-89050/

I am currently in the works of speaking to the body shop he took it to and I have some time to figure out a color. I thought I remembered him saying there was a bit of pearl in there but I may be wrong or just using the wrong term.

I have free reign on any color I want, so I'm planning on doing something dramatic...

Cadillac "White Diamond" is a pearlescent white that looks custom. A three-step paint like most great pearls.

If I had an early Ferrari 250 GT or convertible this would be the color with a red or blue interior.

Welcome to LT I am relatively new here myself, and I have found the community to be pretty engaging.

Color is a very personal statement.. Go with what tickles you... IMO, the Elise (and all Lotuses for that matter) can get away with pretty much any color, given how exotic they look. Burnt Orange looked fantastic on my Evora.

Somebody on here created the site Lotus Cars.se which has a gallery of colors for each car.. Elise isn't one of them, unfortunately, but the Exige should be close enough to give you a good idea of what colors look like on the car.

I love the white but I'm not sure it has the punch I'm looking for.

This ferrari color is pretty nice, but I've gotta think of a way to make it more awesome. Stripes might be out of my budget...

Maybe orange is the way to go. Check out this Lamborghini orange.

Oh and since I have the chance to come up with something completely original, I am leaning away from choosing a previous Lotus color. Which is why I am posting Lambo and Ferrari colors...

Tacky on any other cars, but sexy on any TVRs..
How about color that changes depending on viewing angles?

and my new all-time favorite, the Sagaris.

Might work on Lotus, since it's also from a foreign-owned British car co. with sporting reputation?

there is a Lambo color called Rosso Vik Red. it is a maroon with a high metalic, and slight pearl look. it is one of the best colors I have seen on a car.

GOOD GOD! Those maniacs at Lambo have finally done it --- they've managed to make a car that actually looks like a bull --- that car appears to have horns!

I really hope that is just a concept car, and that it never goes into production...

I love lambo colors but another color that I love is an OEM Toyota color called "Royal Sapphire Pearl" which came limited on Supras.

Looks Blue in the light and has a purplish look to it in the shade. Very hard to capture in pictures.

Also "Signal Green" from Porsche:

2007 Lotus Exige S *Chrome Orange - SOLD
2007 Lotus Exige S *Aspen White - SOLD
2005 Lotus Elise *Magnetic Blue - SOLD
2006 Lotus Exige *Starlight Black Pearl - SOLD

Joe told me someone came by the shop in a yellow elise was that you? Yeah my paint has pearl in it. I haven't had any complaints on the pearl yet. Orange was my second choice. Lamborghini has a nice pearl orange.

05 Lime Green- TSOLD

That's a pretty cool color and I can imagine that every photo of it looks a little bit different. I love mint green and this is pretty close.

I also tried to look up that Prism Green that was mentioned. Is it green with purple? Not sure I like that....

Hey A7594217, yup. That was me and my man. Talked to Joe. He is working up a quote for us, but I haven't heard back from him.

So, what I am thinking is mint green with pearl and black or graphite vinyl off-set racing stripes like pixieluv's racing stripes. I can't find any pictures of an existing car that is what I am picturing, but tell me if you think that sounds awesome.. or otherwise. I really like the matte black, but sounds like it doesn't hold up very well to... well, driving. So that's out.

Here is a pic of pixieluv's car, for those of you who don't know the post. So like this but mint green and with black or dark grey racing stripes.

First off, welcome.

I'm thinking why not have a shop come up with a Yellow/ Orange shifting color that is pearlescent? That would be wild.

There is a Lotus Control Clinic at Laguna Seca on Oct 13 followed by a Golden Gate Lotus Club meet that Friday and an Auto-X on Saturday. I'm flying in from the East Coast. You should try to make it to one of them and meet everyone.

I'll have to talk with the shop again and see what kind of colors they can come up with. Not sure if they can do shifting colors. It sounded like almost anything but I might challenge their expertise.

Hopefully the car will be done by then so I can bring it and meet everyone. We shall see...
