eliack,

I did an 11 day round trip in my Elise from Toronto to Seattle in 2013.

I just did a 10 day round trip from Toronto to Florida last week.

For me anyways, it is a great daily driver.

For both trips the tiny trunk proved sufficient for two. The Seattle trip was with my daughter. The Florida trip was with my wife.

I agree, David.

3 times from Miami to NJ stopping only for fuel; up to 17 hrs in car.

Absolutely fine.

I drive my Elise every day, about 8km/5mi each way to work and back, dropping my son off at school on the way. Once or twice a month I might drive on a weekend for maybe 50 miles / 75km total. I'm on a small island with no really long trips possible, and with kids the wife's car is the usual ride on the weekends (when I do drive on a weekend, it's either a date with my wife, running out to the hardware store, or bringing my son up on the highway to see how fast we can go without getting a ticket... speed limit here is a ridiculous 100km/65mph on the highways; I've only had it up to 185km/h so far). Having great acceleration and braking and the agility of the Elise is great in the stop-and-go traffic of rush hour every day, especially in the European country with the absolute worst drivers (not as bad as the Middle East or Southeast Asia, but definitely the worst in Western Europe). I just can't get out of second gear for more than a few seconds each day...

Most have protective film, like StarShield or Xpel.

Beg to differ. Totally DD this car. Difference between "eating" and "dining".

8th Year Anniversary

I'm now up to 8 years and 189,000 km on my 2009 Elise. Both the A/C and the ABS no longer work. I do miss the A/C from time to time but I definitely can live without it up here in Toronto.

Last fall my wife and I did a road trip from Toronto to St. Augustine Florida to visit some relatives and that was a lot of fun. We both feel the car is comfortable for long trips. You do need to carefully pick and choose what you pack though.

The car has been running extremely well which is nice for a car of this age. I'm very pleased about that.

The photo below was taken at Wasaga Beach, Ontario in August 2017.

Happy motoring!

Passed 200,000 km last night (Dec 6, 2017) on my 2009 Lotus Elise.

I can now look forward to 250,000 km which should occur in about 2 years.

Just took a trip from Orlando up to Atlanta and back in my new Elise. It was comfortable enough that I'll do it again, but certainly less so than my last car was (e92 M3)

Trying to move some stuff to my new apartment with it though... that I won't be doing again

The question I have is what makes a car not a DD? To me it's reliability and/or the roads won't allow it for some reason. In New England in the winter the snow build-up during and after a good sized storm would make it effectively impossible, even with winter tires. While I can't speak for anything but the Evora 400, it seems to prefer being driven on a daily basis. I also wouldn't buy any car that was so uncomfortable that I would only be willing to drive it occasionally or on only smooth roads, but then again I don't do track days. I'm one of those folk who buy toys to use them not to keep them tucked away in a garage.

Same. The Elise is my daily (though I work from home so "daily" is more of once or twice a week) and it's certainly more practical than my CBR600RR

I will point out that getting in & out is one thing, but I'm extremely comfortable in the car, which I have driven 19 & 17 hrs at a stretch. (I'm 5'8")

Now have 82k miles, but always worked at home. Underwear commute....

On a recent road trip to Florida I passed 222,222 km. I could not get a decent picture of that as I was driving. So I took one at 222,822 km on Nov 6, 2018.

This trip added another 4,600 km to my total.

The car ran perfectly as usual. The trip was done on summer tires, but sadly I am back to winter tires for the winter here in Toronto.
