Lotus Racing & Formula One - just plain bad

Sorry folks but I just don't understand Lotus racing strategy - formula one is just terrible this year - no American presence on the United Sports car series - how does Lotus think that this level or lack thereof of racing efforts will help them sell cars, thus making money, thus stabilizing the company?

Would the United series not be a great place to "spotlight" the Evora and entice some potential buyers away from other brands?

Seems like the Lotus "pure" races are for only the lotus people that know the brand.

Disappointed with 14th of 21 currently at Monaco and a non start - must be devastating to spend a week getting ready, spending a ton of money, to not even pass the starting line -

Good race between Lotus, Caterham, and Marussia at the back of the pack.

Just disappointed - was thinking about going to Montreal but will probably pass-

What am I missing?

Ash

Lotus Formula 1 Team has nothing to do with the Lotus Company in England... just decals on the car! So, people in the "know", know that.

Thanks - now I know

Ok thanks - I guess the Lotus Racing strategy just escapes me - I give, I am just a common sense type of guy. Go Lotus!

Who cares about F1 anyways. This season is a complete mess. Most teams are still trying to figure out what the hell is going on with the engines and tires and how to complete the races, let alone win. To me this is a trial year for the new tech. Next year should be a return to normal.

Luv the spectacle of the Pirelli series this year. Sure wish we had an Esprit in that mix.

um, when things are a bungled mess isn't THAT when races are worth watching? F1 is not just about what happens on track. It's when the teams are struggling that you see their true character. When things return to normal and everything is like clockwork again, well that's when it won't be worth watching anymore. Just read the results on Monday, done.

You call 10 DNFs today in Monaco worth watching? I'm not saying I want a return to Red Bull predictable dominance, but it would be nice to see someone other than the Mercedes get through the races without grenading the engines.

Incidentally, happy to see Grosjean pull ahead of Raikkononen. Serves Kimi right for bailing on Lotus.

What is Formula 1? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Wake me up when there is actual racing please. Has been a 2-3 teams race for years with the rest just being happy to be around. One year one team/driver wins most of it, another year is the other and so it goes between MBZ, Ferrari, and Red Bull. Sorry... Zzzzzzzzzzz

^^I am searching for any fact in here^^

It is hard for some to be loyal to an employer who does not pay you.

And Grosjean did not pull ahead of Kimi. Kimi had to go into the pits after a tyre was cut. I thought he was fellow that moved into 4th?

The engines are generally not "grenading" and the DNFs appeared to be predominantly structural issues like cars into barriers, or cars into cars...

You can make stuff up, but it is worthwhile to have a fact or two correct.

No-one was bitching about lotus in f1 the last two years when they were the second/ third best team, even if they're a branding exercise.

They are struggling with the renault engines and the new car, but the pace looks like it is there is they can get the reliability. Every team has its ups and downs and the Enstone tea, are in a down right now.

As for Lotus racing? Who knows why they can't justify having a US sportscar team, but it would need to be competitive like the x180s in the 90s, anything else and it's only going to be bad press

Daniel Moynihan famously once said "You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts".

11 of the last 12 Monaco F1 winners started on pole. The exception, L Hamilton.

Lotus in US racing: If the number of cars they can/do sell is limited, there'd be no business case for spending that $$.

Fine, 8 DNFs and Vettel and Alonso grenading the engines. You know what I mean. And Hamilton's dirt in the eye? Come on.

???? Neither Vettel or Alonso grenaded engines. Vettel lost his turbo and had gear box problems and Alonso finished as he started in, 4th. Only one car had engine problem (Bottas in Williams-Mercedes) while the two TR had exhaust fires and 3 of the 7 DNFs crashed. Maldonado was a DNS not a DNF, with a fuel pump problem, team probably pulled the fuse on him and probably got Lotus Team some points as having him run on that track was too high a risk of him crashing out Grosjean.

Yes in general, due to the new regs the power outputs are not even, Renault is some 50+ Hp down on the Mercs and Ferrari plants a little below Renault and yeah all the cars are running more downforce but as to a racing event if you are not watching this year you are missing out. The completion is intense and due to the lower grip and higher torque than prior years skill shows though. vet else failures to dominate is due to just that, he admits that prior years the aero setup with exhaust blow through gave him more rear grip when he stepped on it but that he can not adjust to the lack of grip this year. Funny, some others have including his team mate.

What is news related to the thread topic is that Lotus car company just pulled their LMP2 T128 out of the lineup.

'17 Evora Sport 410 GP (No. 1 of 9) LMS alloy pan, BOE headers, SSC harness bar
'12 Evora S GP (No. 1 of 14) BOE Prototype S 430 **SOLD**

you're right. Just look at the stupid promos for the race and all the bullsh*t they talk about 30 min before the race start. Like we're all a bunch of girls who care about the celebrities, parties, yachts etc.

Only thing that was great about the entire event was that I found out that Senna won the race 6 times! 7 if you count the early red flag when he was catching up to Prost like 3 sec a lap near the end of the race.

Many people consider facts to be generally important when using them to express, and reinforce, a particular point of view.
