Lambo and Lotus pics 5.21 Cruise

Went on the Jackson Rd cruise today here in Ann Arbor, MI. The cruise starting point was at the local Ford dealership. I saw a few exotics passed through (Ferrari F430, 360, Two Ford GTs) and some pretty impressive modified Mustangs and Corvettes. I had the pleasure of meeting up with forum member 'viciously' and a few other Lotus owners. Very cool guys, great getting to meet them

On my way back from the cruise I happened to see an orange Gallardo Spyder parked. Owner was a nice guy and I was able to snap a few pics of both cars next to each other. Both being low-slung orange sports cars, it was interesting to look at the differences in dimensions and shades of color up close.

Overall a fun day, here are a few pics of the pair:

I like how they have contrasting body styles. One sharp and one curvy. Awesome team!

About a mile from my house and I didn't even know it was going on. It was a nice day and looked like a good time. I'll have to remember the cruise for next year.

Interesting, didn't know you were in MI. I was on a different marque club drive today out in the Irish Hills. It was a great day for a drive!

Always looking for other Lotus owners to cruise with, I'd love to know about any cruises/events coming up in MI It was definitely a fun cruise today.

The Lambo owner was very down to earth, he actually told me how nice my Elise was before I could even tell him that Lambos are my dream car. Unfortunately, he didn't offer to trade cars with me though

What surprised me, when I had them parked next to each other, were how many similar styling cues the cars had. Side air intakes, gills on top of engine, lines of rear window / roof.

A few differences were immediately noticeable though. The Gallardo looked huge while parked next to my Elise. I never would have guessed such a size difference until I had them parked side by side, it makes you realize what a small car the Elise is. Also, the orange paint is a bit different. The Lotus has more of a deep, darker orange. The Gallardo was a noticeably lighter orange, but the metallic flakes were much more apparent while looking at the paint. I think his color is called "pearl orange".

Definitely looking forward to more Michigan area cruises!

The funny thing about the chance encounter with the Gallardo owner is that I've actually been toying with the thought of selling my Elise and purchasing an '05-07 Orange Gallardo (yes, that's my favorite color on a sports car) in the near future.

Judging from the looks of both cars, How much better/worse do you think the Gallardo looks compared the the Elise? How much more "outrageous" does the Gallardo look?

The performance difference are well noted and everyone is familiar with the Lambo's performance, but what are your opinions on how the cars compare on styling alone?

Added one little bit above. Now on to the question:

I'm sure that many find the Lambo angles sexy as well so to illustrate my thought:

RoadDad,

When I saw the "Gallardo" pic I laughed almost spit out my drink all over the keyboard at work

I find them both to be attractive cars. I like the look of the Elise almost just as much as the gallardo, even though it is 1/4 the price.

The 2005-10 Elise/Exige styling is probably more outrageous/wild than the Lambo (at least in my eyes), which is sounds crazy to say given that Lamborghinis are known for being the wildest/ most unique looking cars made.

The Diablo / Countach definitely have that special presence ("wow factor") and look like nothing on the road, even much more so than the Lotus. While the Gallardo is a very, very nice looking car, I'm not sure that it has the same shock factor with the styling as the older Lambos, let alone the Elise.

Don't late the haters get to you. This is your 2nd thread about the Lambo (the other being the insurance thread). Dump the Lotus, buy the Lambo. You only live once.
