Totaled...just from being keyed?

Am I the only one that's thinking that's a little fishy?

Even if they keyed every single body panel (there's really only 4, including the doors), that's still just the cost of a respray.

Yeah, that seems like an unlikely explanation for a salvage title

Did you see the photos of it in the salvage thread? Being keyed wasn't what totaled it.

Going to attempt to purchase it back from the insurance company for track usage but who knows how that will go.

The dealer said it had a salvage title b/c it got keyed. I told him about the incident in 2010 and he never replied

he responded and ignored my question about if the car has any problems and just asked me if I was going to pay in cash. the dealership is convoy motors in San Diego. I might just have e to hire someone in San Diego like a mechanic to go and look at the card for me and bring me back a honest report.

I'd just keep looking. Look east towards Wirewheel.

I would agree with this.

Buying a salvaged/repaired car brings with it inherent risks.

Buying one from a dealer that you know isn't being honest with you...I feel like that's just asking for trouble.

I'd file a report with the BBB and then move on. These guys don't deserve the business, and there will be other cars around.

That car has been on SD CL for over a year. And they have one crappy picture on their add, I'm sure that would give you an idea of its condition. If it was a solid car it would have sold in a week at that price.

Agreed. I'm here in SD as well, have seen ads from this dealer. If they have a good reputation, I've never heard of it. I'd keep looking.
