SCCPC11185HL32696 Elise 2005 Ardent Red

SCCPC11185HL32696 Elise 2005 Ardent Red

Tub frame damage, especially near left, front, lower control arm. No other major damage that I know. Debris in road cleared the front end but caught just enough of the chassis to flip up, lodge into the front/left lower control arm area, and launch the car into the air. Ripped a hole in the floor between my legs and ding the chassis as it tumbled under the car. There was an oil smell but the the car ran and looked fine after the accident.

Car is currently with a dealer in Derry, NH who is going to attempt to repair the frame.

I owned the car for 11 seasons as the original owner and it's condition apart from the accident was very good. No vibrations, tracked/stopped straight, engine ran great. Several good mods such as short ratio steering rack, clam hinge, quiet touch exhaust, etc. I can describe more to anyone interested in the car.

That's sad to hear! Is the damage bad enough to not just keep driving it?
The floor pan should be repairable as far as I know.

It's not the floor pan, it's the frame. The floor pan wouldn't take enough stress to launch the car off the ground. I might have some pics I can post later. It may be driveable if there's enough room left to align the left front wheel, but my insurance company totaled it.

I was looking aggressively for a new one but I keep running into issues finding what I like. After I eliminate garage queens with high selling prices but not enough miles to determine if the cams, steering rack, or other problems are lurking and cars modded beyond anything I'm interested in, I keep running into sellers balking, not disclosing damage, etc. So, I've started looking at other cars.

I know that you know that the Elise doesn't have a frame in the conventional sense, so when you say frame damage do you mean the rear subframe or the tub? The subframe can be replace.

Edit: Sorry reread and saw that the damage was in the front. So tub. Sorry to hear that.

Yes, the frame of the tub. i.e., not the shear panels. I just realized I typod the description of the damage, and edited it to clarify it's the left, front of the tub near the lower control arm.
