This one is in Chicago. I wonder who it belonged to?

Who would buy that? What usable parts could possibly be salvaged?

Edit: Looking at it again it doesn't seem to be SwingLo's car. His was an Elise while this one has an Exige front clam.
But color, location and outcome are very similar.

Yep, different cars. What are the chances two yellow eliges, both with RAC monolite wheels would burn in similar ways?

Actually someone with chassis damage would snatch that up if priced right.

Maybe it's the RAC monolite's causing the cars to burn?

I doubt it. Did you see that photo showing just a wheel hub with the lug bolts still installed but the wheel had burned away? If there was enough heat to burn up a wheel the extruded aluminum in the chassis would be annealed losing its rigidity and strength, not to mention the questionable condition of the glue bonding it all together. As the title of this thread says, this car is complete toast!

I didn't look very close. Good catch and I fully agree.

They're not RAC monolites - they're TR F1's aka Spider wheels

That's the steering wheel, non of the driving wheels appear to be significantly damaged. The tires fared well considering the extent of the fire. I still would not attempt to salvage any part of that frame.

Not my old car!

We had a good laugh about it yesterday at our spirited drive.

Guy had many of the same mods (mesh switch out, etc).

That said, my car only burned in the rear.

We thought - maybe this dude bought my old burned car at salvage and then lit the FRONT of it on fire too!

What are the odds of two yellow Elises with dark wheels, mesh mods in Chicago, burning?!

If it wasn't the wheels, then it must be the neighborhood

There were actually 2 of them posted, same color, same wheels a few weeks ago on co-part... I check the listings daily to see if there is anything worth while. Looks like the other has disappeared!

Sold for $1400 to a buyer from Tennessee. Perhaps a salvage yard?

From the first post, picture no. 5 shows that the shifter knob survived.
