HJC AR-10 SA2005 Rubbertone Helmet

I've been looking for a reasonably price helmet and wanted some opinions on this one I found. I'm going to trying a track day(s) and dont think a 900$ carbon fiber helmet is necessary yet. . .

RallySportDirect.com - HJC AR-10 SA2005 Rubbertone Helmet

I currently have 2 HJC motorcycle helmets so I feel more comfortable with the sizing. . . . being that this would be an online purchase. Let me know what ya think. . . .

P.S. are there any auto part retailers that sell racing helmets? Autozone, car quest, bumper to bumper??

Thanks!
Mike

I don't recall ever seeing helmets in an auto store and if they did have them, I'm sure they would be the cheapest things on the planet. I have had motorcycle stores order the auto helmet. I try on the moto version to size the helmet, and then they look in their catalog of the same brand.

I figured the sizing would be comparable to motorcycle helmets so that's why I was gonna get the same size/brand just auto instead.

Do HJC motorcycle helmets run much bigger than the listed sizes?

I tried on the SI-12s and they run really big. I wear a 7 1/4 for my Bell, which is approximately a medium for most brands and HJC lists it as a medium as well, but when I actually tried it on at the store, it was way too big, and I had to go down to an XS(!!) to have a snug fit.

Autozone type places won't have proper racing gear - but you just so happen to live down the road from one of the biggest racing retailers in the country: Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies - Home Page. Their showroom is in New Berlin. Stop by and you can try them on in person.

Personally, the HJC helmets fit me bigger too, but different brands have different shapes and different heads have different shapes. That is why if you are looking at a brand you do not know, you should always try it on first.
