I found it. Options -> Classic Skin makes the site layout a lot more tolerable.

I am hijacking this thread to ask an admin question. Having started this forum in 2002... and having made a number of posts, it seems I have about 10,500 attachments in my name. When I try to start a new thread, there is a new feature that loads ALL the attachments below the post so I can supposedly drag and drop them into the new thread. But with that number of attachments being loaded, the site hangs and I can't even type the thread title.

Is there a setting that can disable this?

Thanks

How do you trigger this behaviour, is it in new posts only or advanced reply shows it too?

I think I can hit quick reply without it happening.

Here is a screen cap when I am not using Quick Reply...but just using Reply... and the same thing of course when starting a new thread. You can see all the attachments loading below at the bottom of the screen and again, there are over 10,000 attachments. So it just hangs and I have to close the browser tab.

I'm going to 'Pile On' with Randy here about the attachment script error that happens on advanced replys.

He must be frustrated as well 'cause he started a separate Topic on it.

hey there,

Im having a really hard time recreating this. I do not see any attachments show up for previous attachments in general across the bottom. Even trying drag and drop to see if that is how i get them to show up. Not entirely sure how that is happening to you.

what browser are you using, along with layout skin as well.

just want to see if it can be recreated in those. if not ill investigate the usergroups and permissions to see if its something to do with that.

Still doing it for me...

I'm using the LotusTalk.com (full) skin, on Firefox 48.0.2. with the current MS Vista and AdblockPlus.

I just noticed that if I stop the script, the listing of attachments disappears.

Thanks for the support.

1. see Screenshot
2 Firefox 48.02 as above, using AdBlockPlus
3. another screenshot, was unable to 'select all' on the debug screen?
4. Reply to Topic, Create new Topic. Does not generate error with Quick Reply. If I attempt to Go Back to a screen where I've stopped the script, it gives the same error message.

EDIT: today, less attachments were shown but I still got the error.

I disabled the drag and drop plugin. Let me know if it helps.

It did! No script error and all the icons in the upper part of the MESSAGE (reply) pane loaded too. (They were blank unless you stopped the script)

Strangely, the site had been working OK when the new 'skin' was implemented last year, even with the drag n drop capability...

Unhappy

Wow, I've been away for a while; just stopped in to kill some time while taking a break from painting, what happened??? It took 12 minutes to scroll to the bottom of the post to reply, meanwhile I have a "Watch martial arts classics" video advertisement playing flawlessly in the corner the whole time on a loop. Ooh! Now it's shaving legs! And lots of Probiotics adds in-line with people's posts, like they're posting them.. There's a clickbait picture on the bottom that looks like someone dunked their entire nose in cocaine..

Yikes, I used to like coming here for a few minutes when I had a chance; now it's almost unusable. Just resetting my password to post took another 15 minutes. When I submitted the change I got an "internal server error, please contact verticalscope administrator". Derp...

I hate it. I hate it so much.

If it were not for the incredible wealth of knowledge provided here by the users, I would have just deleted my account in a fit of rage.

I somehow became logged out and had to re-enter the absurdly complex and completely ridiculous password that I was forced to recently create. Well, it didn't work, so I had to reset it.

And to do that I had to watch a G-D commercial to get an F-ing code to enter into your #$^$%^ form.

I hate you, autoguide group. Please die.

Please, can all the users just move over to somewhere else? Anywhere else?

Thank you.

Can you take a screen shot of the site with all the ads that you mentioned?

The link for feedback at the top of the page doesn't work.

The page (lotustalk) never loads, just tries for days, so I normally kill the tab quickly.

Can you provide the link you are attempting to get to?

Are you noticing any rogue ads / popups / videos playing in the background?

Is your browser giving an alert of "Waiting for / Connecting to" when hanging up?

Have you cleared your cache and cookies lately?

Are you getting any error messages? Do you have a screenshot of them?

Any additional information you can provide is helpful.

Thanks,
- JB
