site slow?

I get normal behavior from most websites, both computers I use, but this one does not seem to wan t to respond in normal fashion, maybe it is just me, but I don't think so

doubly annoying because if you click again when it fails to respond it dings your for 2 in 5 seconds.....which I think should go away, no other site do I see anything like that

Other AutoGuide forums that I frequent are slow, also.

Are you using an Ad Blocker, that can slow them down. I'm seeing 20 ads blocked on this page, alone.

this site is always slow for me. the only way I get reasonable load times consistently is to use my phone's browser with Javascript turned off. i couldn't figure out how to do this on my laptop.

i don't use any adblocker and have even abandoned writing posts on my computer at times because not only is the site slow to load, but it also continues to load after all content is present in the page. I've even had autoguide forums (both clubwrx and lotustalk) redirect my browser if i leave it unattended while on the forum (work computer and personal). i recognize the need for advertisement revenue, but this should not be prioritized above user experience.

other sites like seloc do not suffer this much.

This site just keeps going further down the drain. The ad's, the mobile app, the super slowness. It's all part of the game now.

I tried to make a post, it said...

This site is circling the drain faster and faster...

And upon hitting send, I got a database error lol.

Game, set, match.

The entire Lotus Talk Website has become so slow that it is essentially unusable.
It took several attempts to get to this Thread, with Error messages each attempt.

It really has gotten bad - have to say. Painful for the user customer experience -- for Administrators of the site.

Today is definitely a lot slower than usual.

Last time I investigated site speed, the ad servers in Canada were the speed bottleneck. I run browsers and software that won’t let any ads load. Although I notice this site is still slower than others, I rarely see errors or incur delays that cause me to abandon a page request. I’m on a RF link to the internet at only 15 Mbps down (maximum - it’s usually more like 6 - 10 Mbps), so any problems are greatly magnified because of this slow download speed.

Here’s what I’m using . . .

iOS / mobile devices - iCab browser. It wipes out 99% of the ads on all sites right out of the box. Lots of customizable features like the ability to not pull every Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter or Google toolbar that seems to be all the rage on every freaking page. See it here - iCab Mobile.

Desktop / laptop - I’m running Google’s current version of Chrome with ad and tracking blocker extension Ghostery installed. You can get Chrome here and you can get Ghostery through the Chrome store here.

With these tools running, I haven’t seen any ads on LotusTalk in the last 5 years. Not one.

in firefox
about:config
[answer yes]
type java then look for the line that says javascript.enabled
double clicking will toggle it true false

I have not found this useful in this case, I keep the config page open for other sites that have paywalls that gray over the entire screen or something

You won't be able to sign on or post with javascript disabled.

If they had never created annoying ads, they never would have created adblockers. I mean, do the ads in the newspaper bother you? It is the moving, pop over, pop up etc that drive me to it.

the phone is much worse, I cannot use this site with Safari at all. popovers redirects are ridiculous. You won a prize!

Then scrollng you accidentally click an ad

no thanks

we don't run ads that redirect you to another site or pop up. If you get them and you still get them, it sounds like thee'a a bad cookie in your browser that does that.
