Damn those look diesel! Sorry if this has been covered but will N/A cars benefit from the different gear ratios?

Is there a price announced yet?
Rebuild kit or full gearbox?
Exchange or outright?

Thanks :-)

451, It should be better as it is closer ratio in the gears you use on track. 1st gear will pull better and longer on the street.

Cain-It, We'll do both. Since you are in the mid-east, probably you would just get the kit and do the rebuild locally.

I was thinking they look a lot like the gears in the quaife sequential in my turbo k20, but with a bit of helical to them. That pinion looks serious. Looks very promising. Real good.
Wonder if there will be any gear noise...

If so that's a small compromise! I had my Honda gears WPC treated for a little extra protection. Pretty cool process

Garage
The pinion ring looks like it could handle the duty of my 4.7l V8 dakota....wonder if I could get them to transfer over easily for more reliability and better gearing.

Looks amazing Fred...definitely making me drool.

Latest update is that we have everything except the input shafts! Expect those in a couple of weeks. I'll be building the output shaft side etc. Additionally, we're looking at some options to offer ISF(Isotropic surface finish) or REM. As we've been investigating different options, it has been quite a journey to separate the Gems from the snake oil. Fortunately, as an engineer, I have a pretty good BS detector since "I want to see data". Additionally, we have several industry veteran engineers to call upon that have decades of experience. In an industry that is filled with anecdotal evidence, it is good to work with people that actually practice the science and theory behind the scenes to call BS on this or that new version of snake oil.

ISF or REM(named after the company that makes the chemicals) is a process where the gears are chemically treated and tumbled individually in specific media to attain a super-smooth, mirror finish. It is done to nearly all professional race boxes. As it turns out this has several benefits: 1. Runs much cooler as the mirror-smooth surface finish just has less friction. 2. Makes more power on the order of 2-3%. 10-15hp on a 400-500HP car is not uncommon. 3. Shifts smoother if the hubs and rings are also done. The shifting hubs have many grooves and the factory machining is not very smooth. 4. Surface roughness is the leading cause of crack formation as micro-stress risers appear in the valleys of the roughness. Micro-polishing removes those stress risers.

Of course it is fairly pricey so we plan on making it an option.

Now that it is coming together, are we going to have a rough estimate on base prices? (Complete kit and complete transmission with core swap)

Thanks, We're getting there. I need to get the input shafts back first. As I've said before, we're doing a superior product and the costs that go with it.

Fantastic developments!
I wounder how ISF compares to DLC(Diamond-Like Carbon) coating that seems to be all the rage in high performance applications...

DLC is an add-on coating that provides a very hard, mirror finish. The difficulty with DLC is handling the tolerances of things such as splined parts and then making sure there is no flaking. To be clear, it does seem to be a nice option, however EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE and complicated. Probably won't be pursuing it straight away, as the gain vs. $$ vs complexity doesn't seem as solid in our case as ISF.

Fred, thank you for the input. I've considered supercharging my Elise (you saw it in person) and want to make sure the transmission is bullet proof since I drive it daily.
