Shifter cables crushed by undertray (2011 Exige Final Edition)
Hey all -- new owner here. I got my Exige in February, and was immediately blown away by how stiff my shifter was. It would take a lot of effort to change gears. After changing fluids for the first time a couple weeks later, I discovered that one of my shifter cables had been crushed.
To my delight, with the undertray not bolted down the shifter immediately became much easier to move back & forth. I've since only installed the undertray using 3 of the 4 bolts, leaving out the bolt that's right next to the cables which does away with the stiffness.
I recall reading that this was a common issue with the Final Edition models specifically (can't find the thread), but am bummed to have not found any official TSB or recall for this condition. Any amount of torque on that bolt seems to pinch down on the cables themselves, so it seems like a design failure to me.
Attached are a couple pictures. I'm wondering what permanent damage has been done and if this necessitates replacing the cables? Any advice is appreciated!
