Transmission Light on

I'm sorry but what would be the function of a transmission light on a manual transmission?
I just did a clutch job and put it back together and the trans light was on, then it went out, now it's back on and it seems to be on for good.

I checked the fluid level and there's no leaks. What is the transmission Indicator supposed to be telling me, anyone know?

Trans is running great

There is no transmission light.
Are you referring to the check engine light?
Get a code reader and check the error code.
