De-snorkel or Hurricane induction kit

Hi guys, both I know don't add any horsepower, I am opting for the sound difference.

I have done de-snorkel on my Elise SC, and get noticeable supercharger whine. What about the Hurricane kit. Anyone tried this on their 2zz motor Elise or Exige?

That's basically what I have (K&N short ram with the elephant trunk). I have logged my intake temps with and without the trunk in the summer, and it makes a huge difference. If outside air is 90F, that's what my IAT is with the elephant trunk. Without it, I can be well closer to 110F. Using Ideal Gas Law, that's almost 4% more air density which comes out to about 7hp. And all of that is NA. Supercharger will compound that effect.

The downside is that the K&N just doesn't have a provision for mounting it, so sometimes it shifts and I can feel a huge restriction. This winter I will make a bracket to hold it in place, but it looks like the Hurricane won't have this problem since it has a better opening. No idea how well it will handle water though...

It is my understanding that adding a CAI to the elise will not impact HP because the ECU will compensate for the increased air flow. However, if you are only interested in better sound, this may do the trick.

Personally, I may add a CAI just to reduce the cussing associated with changing the #%#£% air filter!

The ECU does this by adding extra fuel, so there it is possible to see a true gain without a tune. This is done by the MAF reading, so it is a must that the MAF reading still be accurate. Some kits will screw up the MAF reading either by changing how the air flows over the sensor or by changing the tube diameter, but, when the reading is accurate and still within a calibrated range, increases in airflow will be met by increases in fuel.

thanks @cyow5 , the hp might be as well added and note taken. How does the noise differed, compare to stock? Much louder air breathing in?

Second cam really sounds sweet with the intake, that alone is worth every penny in my book. I am NA though, so your mileage may vary, but the same principles apply.

RGB, It looks like your link is not the correct part for federal Elise's. I believe that the correct link is:

I'm running a smooth tube, K&N panel filter and snorkel delete. Throttle response is quicker, induction acoustics are louder and the car feels faster on the second cam.
