There would be no way to ensure mileage is correct , even modern cars can be incorrect . It's possible to enter your own value in a vw Audi etc with the right cable . It happens a lot here in the uk

And that is why we have car background checks to find a record of the mileage from service centres , yearly compulsory car tests (MOT as it's known here) and anywhere that has signed up to the scheme to battle mileage fraud .

What my product won't do is allow the end user to change the mileage themselves .
That's why start from zero and keeping records will prove to any potential buyer what the true mileage is .

Does this drain power when the car is off? Will it reset if the power is out?

Elise LCD dash

Why cant you just place the screen over the existing gauges? You've already prototyped the inner bezel dimensions. Use a thin LCD or Oled screen, position the connections to the side as flush as you can. This will preserve the stock dash and mileage. I would not buy a product, which is mostly aesthetic (pleasing to the eye) that would devalue the entire car. Unless the car is salvaged etc.. And the title is branded etc... The factor of odometer problems would rule this out completely. This would be viewed, to me, as an addition, not as a sole replacement. This is just my opinion. Btw, looks nice and I wish you the best of luck!

Nice, can we have another graphical display resemble the usual LCD race dash with shift lights?

Very excited about this. What is the process to design new screens? I'd love to be able to continually update or even contribute with new content if you had a way to disseminate.

It's completly off , zero current drain from the battery .

It's stays in sleep for 4 mins after turning the ignition off , then it powers off completly .

Door switch triggers the boot. By the time you are in the car and turning the ignition it's ready for an instant on .
As you see in the video . Boot logo is just for fun , it can go straight to working cluster with ignition turned if needed.

Would there be a benefit to going larger? I seem to think an interested party has some skill at laying fiberglass/CF to make custom parts. If there is a benefit, maybe a new shroud could be designed. Just an idea...

Larger is no problem , the next popular size is 12.3 wide common in current high end cars .

I have supplied 12.3 inch solutions in the past for very niche 1 offs

I will produce such a prototype for the Elise and see if there is any demand , same base hardware as the 7 inch so it is really screen and mechanical fitting that needs changing .

From this site:

Color Display - Phoenix Display

7" LCD is 165mm x 100mm physically with a 154mm x 85mm screen size
8" LCD is 193mm x 117mm physically with a 177mm x 99mm screen size

Can someone measure what the stock width is from here <-> here on a stock cluster?

That will be instrumental (no pun intended) to determine what LCD size would be optimal. Thanks!

8 inch,

I would have loved to fit it, but it would have needed a shroud mod.

Well darn it. I've been looking for a 7.5"-8" sized screen with no more than 80-85mm in overall height. It's definitely a custom job...

Hmm here's a tweaked/simplified screen capture of the Lexus LFA gauge (ignore the reflection from the stock sliding metal ring) - it would allow the warning light indicators/turn signals to be pushed to the outside corners while keeping all the pertinent info in the center - a large circle is the best use of the 7" screen IMHO...

The "N" neutral would of course be the calculated gear (there would be no AUTO mode).

We could have water temp, oil temp, oil pressure, gas level, intake temperature, etc. around the perimeter. Note the dynamic RED redline (at 4400) since it's not fully warmed up yet.

..seems a bit of a benchmark the LFA when it comes to LCD instruments

certainly a dynamic redline will be added starting from 4K upto the configured limit, water temp dependent.

with the possibility to turn it off

garw, I have been looking at options of puttting in a LCD dash like the AIM MXS, Motec...etc, but I want to keep all the warning lights as in the stock clusters, seems like yours is the best option so far with simple plug and play.

Please keep me posted on the development and release date.

Cheers
