If you are going to get that color, you MUST get the Union Jack on top!

If BMW can keep flame-surfacing to a minimum and fine-tune the I-Drive system, I'd certainly be all over the M2.

no luck

here's a little PS job of what the M2 might look like.

Good God!!!
I drive a BMW and probably never buy one again (a newer one at least) because of what Chris Fu#king Bangle. But last I heard, BMW relieved him of his position of lead designer after the 5 series sales went down 27%.

Firing the guy would essentially be an admission that BMW made a mistake ... and they still have to live with these flaws for several more years. BMW won't admit that they screwed up, so they "promote" Bangle to a position where he can't do any more damage (we hope).

Sadly, I don't care for this goof that will take over Bangle's post. I think his name is Adrian Von Hooeydonk.

If you've seen either of these guys -- you'll know that they belong on the Home & Garden channel picking out fabric for a fancy living room. These guys are both a little effeminant and I'm not convinced that either guy can dress himself.

....but I digress.

BMW still has the sweetest engines, but everything they touch design-wise turns to crap. Even the F1 car (not touched by Bangle, of course) is the ugliest thing out there.

Where has the classic German sense of style gone? Oh right -- they never had any!

Van Hooydonk.

Yep, the guy that took over Bangle's position penned the new 6er and 7er

ugly 5-series and A6

Perjaps the only thing uglier than the new 5-series (WAY too much going on at the front IMO) ...is the new Audi A6. That new grille-that-goes-to-the-ground look just doesn't do it for me. And I think the previous A6 and current A4 are very sharp looking.

The new 6-series Bimmer looks great- much cleaner. and that V8 exhaust sounds awesome. A bit pricey at $80k, though.

I think the new 7 series holds it's own in the Fugly department.

So he's just as bad if not worse than Bangle

I guess the E46 M3 was about as good a design as we'll ever see from BMW... or at least until they get rid of those two clowns.

The only reason the Mini turned out OK is because they had the original to guide them. All the new messed up trunk BMWs are fugly. Not sure about the Z4... That in itself is a problem. You shouldn't think, "Oh it's not that ugly" one day and think,” I’m glade I didn't buy one of those ugly things" the next.

As an E36 M3 owner I have to agree with all of the above. the E46 is the last decent looking BMW and is is much less over-engineered than the later designs.

Unfortunately they have revised their marketing from the Ultimate Driving Machine to the Ultimate Posing Machine to increase sales and entice a larger audience. All of the electronics coupled with the emphasis on design has spoiled the cars for me (not to mention the weight!). I agree they continue to make fantastic engines. All of the German cars are over-engineered (and I am a Mechanical Engineer).

I have always driven German cars, but they are really ticking me off recently. We now have Porsche, the fastest growing truck compnay. VW now tops the list for lowest MPG in two classes of vehicles. Then new Audi grill is atrocious...

While the old Z3 reminded me of a Toucan, the new A6 has the nose of a Koala bear.

Anyone else see it?

I do see the resemblance to a Koala and I'm still cracking up with this statement too, "If you've seen either of these guys -- you'll know that they belong on the Home & Garden channel picking out fabric for a fancy living room. These guys are both a little effeminant and I'm not convinced that either guy can dress himself. " LOL

Ouch guys!!! here we go again with the Z3 = effeminant comments. Did it ever occur to you guys that there are actually people that drive this car (Me!) on this board. And frankly, I love the bloody car, at least the way I have it set up... Loud, low and fast.
"picking out fabric for a fancy living room." ... That is some funny ****!

BTW...congrats on your 200 posts.

I think they were talking about the Chris Bangle and his replacement, not the cars.

Are Z3 owners as touchy about this issue as Miata owners seem to be?

The vast majority of Z3 and Miata owners are not at all concerned about this - it just seems to be the male owners that are bent out of shape about it...
