Help removing radio

I'm trying to remove the Blaupunkt radio from my Elise and it won't budge on one side. I read all the posts on this forum and other places and have the release keys (the curved pair of pins that go in the sides), but no amount of fiddling gets that side to move. Any tricks?

Put the left tool in your right hand and put the right tool in your left hand and shake it all about while holding your left leg over the console with the right foot in the right seat. During this procedure push your tongue into the right cheek while humming the chorus from Westside Story’s “Gee Officer Krumpky”. Make sure the radio is tuned to a oldies channel that is playing “Little Duce Coupe” by the BeachBoys. if this doesn’t work just go back to you old method and keep trying, it will eventually come out.

I had a similar problem and it ended up being that I was pressing the wrong way on the keys. So, if you’re pressing in while you pull, try pressing out(or vice versa). I can’t remember which is the correct way(maybe someone here knows), but switching that around made it slide right out.

I figured it out, so decided to post for others. I was using homemade release pins, but this hold for the factory ones as well. Left and right pressure needs to be applied while pulling out (push the part outside the radio away from the radio) because the clips need to be pushed in, not just released. If using homemade ones, and inward bend at the ends is helpful.
