It's not that dark, based on the pics of the Nightfall Esprit, I think it's more like BMW's Orient Blue. Although, that's a pretty dark blue as well.

Are we absolutely sure that Esprit is Nightfall Blue? I am only doubting because I have held up the Lotus paint samples in every manner of natural and artificial light, and the little swatch *never* looks nearly as blue as the Esprit in these photos. Instead, the swatch is near black.

just so you know....I have held up those little PAPER printed colors as well....Then I spoke to Lotus....Paper colors NEVER match a painted surface since the process it different to make them.

The nightfall is VERY dark in the paper chips. If you put it under bright light you can catch a reflection close to what it really should be. Lotus is making NEW color chips however it will be a little bit before the dealers have them.

Another example is the Yellow....It has a ton of orange in the sample chip where the real yellow has just a hint of orange.

I recall Lotus saying that the dealers would get the RC car shells painted w/ the actual colors- guess that fell by the wayside.

The esprit is definitely nightfall blue. I saw it this past weekend in houston, tx and wally showed it to me. It is just a tad darker than cobalt, but very nice.

Man, my order is in for the Yellow however I am thinking about switching it to NIGHTFALL Blue....

I am torn.....I have never owned a yellow car....and blue seems to be the color I have purchased in the past....My boxster was Ocean Blue...( Very dark Blue Metallic)....Most likely why I am attracted to the nightfall blue.........

The thought of the Biscuit interior.....well.....that color is just a little off from what I would like...If it was the same as the Esprit I would do it in a second.......I may go the safe way....Nightfall and Black...

Any thoughts??

The Saffron Yellow car at the LA Auto Show looked so spectacular to me that I expect to be very happy with it. And the pictures in sunlight make me very happy with my choice.

Corvette has a vibrant yellow that I've seen around town lately and that looks really great. Not sure how close that is to Saffron, though.

I am waiting until I see the yellow Elise at the Car show early next month before I change anything.

I have always liked colors that were rich and had depth...I am concerned that the yellow....although spectacular may lack the depth....

What don't you like about magnetic? Have you seen it in person? Please let me know because i have not and want a blue as well.
lmpharmd,
i don't like magnetic blue, because at the LA auto show it looked a bit purplish, and when I see it in magazines it looks OK. I'm not really attracted to that color. I was hoping it would be like Cobalt blue, but I guess Nightfall will be the closest.

I have ordered Nightfall Blue (Behlmann 28). Saw the Magnetic Blue at the L.A. Show and started to change my mind but Nick Adams said I should stick with Nightfall. Said that it was a "sophisticated color" and that it was the only color he had seen the painters on the line stand back and admire.
Paul, I agree with you in that it looks "sophisticated." I haven't yet ordered mine so I hope that it does look great.

Magnetic and nightfall are pretty close in tint and metallic, nightfall is just a bit darker. I like the magnetic myself.

for everyone's reference.... mine was the first NFB order in houston. It should be here August-ish.

Af that time i'll post dozens of pictures for those of you who hadn't ordered by that time.

(although it'll be awfully late for others of you).

Randy: Should I bring out my 'saffron saga' again? Kellzy would 'definately' vote for it.

Excellent statement....."Sophisticated"....that is what I was trying to get across. That is exactly how I am being pulled by the colors. Traditionally when I spend this much on a car....I want a sophisticated color so it looks like it costs that much......The ELISE is just SCREAMING RACE CAR YELLOW......I am sooooo confused....

Can you have a sophisticated race car??? I hope so.....Leaning towards NFB with Black.......again........

This is bad.....

I'm standing across the street now and I can still see it. I thought Randy was supposed to have people take photography instruction before being allowed to play photog on the site. Ever since he was told that his yellow machine
is soon to arrive, he hasn't been doing diddly as janitor of this forum.
