Ohlins, TopSpeed, Laguna Seca

I bought my Elise a few months ago and have gotten a lot of help on this forum. I finally got it to the point where it was ready for a track day, and was lucky enough to get out on Laguna Seca. Observations:

- Ohlins (from 2006 Lotus Sport) are incredible
- trust Lotus on the suggested settings for the track; they are right!
- if I hadn't changed out my toe links for DSBrace, I would have been scared as cr*p
- I swapped out my TopSpeed Pro1 exhaust for stock. They had a 90dB limit!
- I used to scoff at aero aids. i think differently after cresting the straightaway at 110mph coming into turn 1.
- There is *nothing* to compare to perfectly nailing the corkscrew

Does anyone know another aftermarket exhaust that is likely to pass the 90dB requirements? I was fine but don't think I would have made it with the TopSpeed. I would like something other than the stock rusty boat anchor but am not interested in a lot more volume. I will have to put the TopSpped1 up for sale.

A couple of cool pictures attached.

I wish I had those Ohlins! Sounds like they are great. Had you even driven at the track with the stock suspension?

As for the exhaust, as long as you still have your cat, the Silent Touch ST5 should be quiet enough: BOE Fabrication - Lotus Elise, Exige, and Evora Performance ECM Tuning Products

It is also what you want if you will be doing track days as it is rebuildable.

The stock exhaust is the only thing I know for sure will pass a 90dbA day at Laguna Seca. The bulk of the quiet aftermarket stuff is hit or miss
on making it through a 92dbA day.

Drove the car stock in terms of suspension and aero for several years. Upgraded to Nitron singles and a Difflow diffuser (with aero plates) at the same time,
it pretty rock solid coming over the crest of the hill of the main straight. Wasn't sure which helped more but it sounds like the diffuser/aero plates is making the
difference.

Did you runs Sunday? Was there Saturday, it was my 3rd 90dbA day there, so no longer worried about making sound.

I haven't driven stock at Laguna Seca. I had LSS which was pretty good but harsh and somewhat jittery on any rough areas.

Yes, Sunday. Were you using stock exhaust to meet 90dBA?

If you look at the 2005 Elise Sport documentation (which is where my dampers came from) it's:

Road
Front P4 bump; P12 rebound
Rear P6 bump; P12 rebound
Race
Front P3; P10
Rear P4; P15

This was perfect. Makes me glad I got these and rebuilt them to get Lotus valving.

There is other documentation out there for the Lotus-supplied upgrade package. It is:

Road:
front: P7 bump; P5 rebound
rear: P4 bump; P19 rebound

Race:
front: P6 bump; P3 rebound
rear: P4 bump; P17 rebound

I haven't tried these yet and am not sure if they were exactly the same valving. They're clearly very different.

I ignored all the other suggestions all over the web including Ohlins' own recommendation for their aftermarket setup.

The exige cup cars also have their own recommendations.

I don't have much track experience, but I have those Ohlins and they do feel incredible.
