I'm game... just sold my Rex (3 weeks ago) in preparation for taking delivery of the Elise:

it was absurdly fast, very comfortable, and fantastically unreliable.

Now I'm left with this:

..143,000 miles, been totaled twice, still runs strong.
My friends liken it to a wooden rollercoaster because of all the squeaks, rattles, and the crappy ride quality (and the fact that I don't slow down for turns. ) I'll never sell it and will continue to drive it to work every day until it stops running. It's nice to not have to worry about the safety of your car when you park around bars or in shady neighborhoods.

My old car that the Elise replaces

I traded it last year for a Turbo Alltrac Celica and gave that to my daughter. I just sold my other car, the tow vehicle, a Lexus RX-300. I am not driving a Mercedes C280 around town, and hauling with a Honda Odyssey.

On weekends, I drive a 125cc shifter kart sometimes.

Here's a few of my cars.

This is my '91 Dodge Stealth TT. I'll sell this car for the Elise:

I've been working on the Stealth as my experiment in Japanese muscle cars. I was never a big drag racing guy but the Stealth made me one. If it wasn't for the awd drivetrain breaking (lost three in one season!) i'd probably be in the high tens right now. With boost at 18 psi, I managed an 11.7 and came in second at the DSM shootout quick 8 in Ohio. With boost at 28 psi, I had major clutch slip! I recently changed the clutch out to a 3 disc , $3000 clutch... so hopefully I'll be able to keep a tranny together for a high ten pass..... AWD launches are pretty brutal!

This is my race car:

I'll probably never sell this car because its a track only car. If it gets smashed, its no big deal... This car, I can take to the track and drive 10/10ths and not worry about... Everthing in the car is cheap.... e.g. used replacement tranny's are around $75.

1991 MR2, naturally aspirated. It'll be a shame to have to sell it next spring, but I have no room for that AND the Elise.

My daily driver is an AWD Subaru Legacy wagon.

Not quite an Elise, but I would have been very happy to have had a soft top to keep some of the water out.

I currently drive a 1999 Mazda Miata. I'd like to keep it, which means I need to move within the next year since I have a single car garage at the moment.

I'm not actually buying an Elise, or selling my 2, but I like checking out what the US is going to get from Lotus.

A 98 Estoril Blue M Roadster. I'm #6 in line @ Ascot Motors in Sewickly, PA. I will miss having an engine that I can drop into 5th gear at 20MPH and still accelerate pretty well. But I *WON'T* miss the soft suspension and the massive amounts of oversteer when you hit the gas at the wrong point in the curve. Oversteer is nice when it is easily controllable but in the M I'm just not good enough of a driver to control all of it yet. Just ask my insurance company.

I was lucky enough to drive the Elise S1 at Silverstone in England. I loved the looks and feel of the car. In the M you get the feeling of acceleration. In the Elise it was more of just floating along. Doing 110 on the straights felt like 40-50 on the street. Going into turns was completely sublime - point and shoot.

Looking forward to the extra HP that the car has but not nearly as much as it's ability to just to groove along winding roads.

Look out Beaverun - Here I come!!!!!!!!!

The car I never thought I would sell My rare 1994 Solar Yellow MR2 Turbo, one of only 900 MR2s imported that model year. I sold it in 6 days for waaaaay over book value. Needed $$ for the deposit on the Elise. So now I will have a car that will be 1 of maybe 2500 cars/ year imported. I guess that's still "rare" enough for my tastes In the meantime I'm driving my yellow IS 300...sigh.
