What if the MR2 2.0 turbo engine/e153 combo fit in the Exige? Lots of work but maybe K24 is a better choice.

Yes you, Peewee.

Nice collections. Love threads with lots of pics like this!

Our other cars aren't really collectors, but some are slightly different.

Our 1966 Volvo 122s was owned by my grandpa for its entire life. When he passed (about ten years ago) my brothers and I restored it (paint etc). Still need a bit of work, but it's a cool weekend car.

My current daily - Peugeot RCZ. Something different, but actually extremely capable, particularly around the bends.

My wife's car - Peugeot 308 GTi. Love it, awesome to drive and very practical. 200kw, 1200kg.

This was mine, '91 hardtop with a 3vz fe. The engine really suited the car nicely. Torquey and sounded great. The car needed some cosmetic attention, but that was actually part of the fun.

My daily is an '09 G5. Not particularly fun, but has been dead reliable for 150,000mi since new and was cheap thanks to Pontiac going under. The wife dailies her Sky Redline which is straight-piped and tuned, so she likes picking on the Lotus on the interstate, haha. I just picked up the FZ07 for commuting, too, which has been a lot of fun, and it's nice to be able to out-drag the Saturn for once. Just ordered a bunch of cabinets, workbench, etc, so finally the garage will e presentable soon, too.

Muscle Kitty! She's a saucy tart pushing 550hp. Cushy and handles well but kinda big brute force. I can jam the accelerator down on my Evora and not throw myself off of the road. Muscle Kitty...not so much, I'd die. I do love Ian Callum's lines. So close to the AM Rapide S lines.

We also have a little 500 Abarth with 200hp. It's a lot of fun but certainly lives up to its FCA reputation.

Thanks, it's got 180,000 miles on the chassis, 3rd engine, ported 13b out of a '90. It makes about 165 whp. It's about double the power of the original car so it can scoot.

Did have...my Solstice Coupe, of which 1200 were made, and my second Exige. The roof came off just like on the Exige. You had to buy the soft top as an option. It was a joke to install on the car, and broken down it literally took up that entire rear storage area.

Those are rare. They are holding their price very well because of it. How was it to drive?

I've got probably the more strange 'other' car here, a 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10. I like to refer to it as the fat American cousin to the Elise. Impractical, raw, sporty but with American style displacement.

Wait, the license plate on the white car should be either on the blue or the silver
You need to swap that out and get a WOB plate instead

It drove like every other Solstice or Sky. If I'd never driven an Elise or Exige, I probably would've enjoyed it a lot more. Back in the day the Solstice raced in the same SCCA class in road racing as the Elise, and often dominated the class.

BUT once you've driven and Elige, as you know, they spoil you for nearly any other sports car.

Yes, they are holding their value, but not appreciating.

Some might consider it a collector, but all my cars are drivers.

1998 M Roadster. Probably a better daily than the Lotus. Smooth torque, and compared to most cars gives a raw feeling. Compared to my Elise, though, it is a cushy luxury car with its fancy power windows, top, steering, and seats (with heaters!).

My signature line has a list of our collection. But I think this one is the least seen (in the USA) of the collection:

Lifes too short to drive boring cars or drink boring beers. Just don't do them both at the same time.
No boring cars in our garage:
  • 2005 Lotus Elise (Magnetic Blue)
  • 1966 Lotus Elan S2 S/E (British Racing Green)
  • 1979 Triumph Spitfire w/GT6 Engine, Spit6
  • 1973 Triumph TR6
  • 1973 Opel GT
  • 1973 Porsche 914
  • 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce
  • 1968 Lancia Fulvia Coupe
