The Evora Clunk Sound When Stopping

After a 2 hour weekend drive I was a few blocks away from home when I heard a clunk sound when I stopped at a signal light. I pulled over and checked for any obvious issues. None were noted. It felt and sounded as if a bushing or suspension bar was loose. I had the Evora towed to Lotus of Orange County (CA). Freddy Olivarez diagnosed the problem. “Upper rear right control arm is broken. Inspected vehicle and found the rear right upper control arm cracked and loose at the hub bushing end.” Lotus approved the warranty repair (wishbone assembly) but also requested the removal and replacement of the left upper control arm as well. Within 20 days I was back on the road. Thanks Freddy!

While trying to diagnose the problem myself I did a few Google searches. Phaphaphooey guided me to his documented problem and fix (Long Overdue Harness Service Update / Suspension Control Arm Warning). Thanks for responding to my inquiry.

What have people done to fix this when out of warranty? I don't have the problem but I have been thinking about new bushings. Maybe when I do it I should do the control arms at the same time.

Mine just did this... Cracked driver's side rear upper control arm and press fit bushing falling out... Tough to know which happened first. Either the control arm cracked and gave the bushing enough room to pop out. Or, the bushing popped out and the repeated back and forth movement eventually just cracked the control arm.

Anywho... $1,018 for a new control arm from Lotus... came with all the bushings installed... And about 3 hours labor.
