Nope. The newer keys are a "mirror image" of the old style keys. They obviously won't fit into the same slot. One or the other...

Back up tip

I was lucky enough to have a good lock shop near me and they used the 168 to make a blank when I got my car. I had him make several, then took one and cut off almost all of the "top" of the key, leaving only the part that goes in the lock and a tiny bit more. I then drilled a small hole in what was left to fit it on my keychain with house keys, etc.

With a key ring in it, you can turn it easily. It is very small, weighs nothing and
is always with me.

I then stashed an extra fob in the tool kit by the battery. If I ever lost my main key and fob, I can open the rear (alarm blasting), get the new fob, shut off the alarm and go.

I have actually done that with several other keys like motorcycle backups. The whole ring is still tiny and I have great piece of mind.

Did anybody ever check out the possible Catera (Cadillac) connection to the Lotus factory key supplied by MINDA?

Are there any current key posts? Or people selling x168 blanks? I found them on ebay, one for 5 bucks or 5 for eight, too few for me and the second too many. Also curious as to the key code, my local lotus dealer just wants me to get a replacement from england and "doesnt know the code". Someone said is a D???? number, is that just four numbers or are there more that might equate each pin. I pulled my trunk cylinder and the pins were numbered, none over 3. Trunk cylinder also had one pin missing at the base, hope thats normal.

I just went to Ace Hardware and they had the key blanks in stock and cut them. Maybe try that first? Ace does not need codes or D#s. I think I paid $2.95 for blank and key cutting complete.
