locked out help

so apparently my key fob gave up its last breath to LOCK the car... now i can't unlock it? both fobs seems to be dead, changed the battery in one of them - but of course (as i assumed) it won't unlock because it needs to be programed, and i need to get into the car to do that... i am sure this has been covered before - help!

Try resynching the fob.

I believe you do 5 seconds pressing both buttons, and 5 seconds pressing the small button.

i found this info - seems like the issue - both batts died at the same time? ironic but possible, and or got out of sync or something - be back in 50 mins either way!!

Try this while standing very close to the car:
1. Press both buttons at the same time until the LED goes out.
2. Release the buttons
3. Press the big button. The LED should flash.
4. Press it again to verify that your system is sync'd.
Good Luck,
Chris

There is a thread about gaining access by jumping the wire to the inertia switch. Here it is:

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but can't one unlock the car using the key in the door lock?

Not if the door has been locked with the fob, unfortunately.

What you're missing: Reading the owners manual.

To answer your question, no. The electric door locks and the key operated door locks are two separate, unrelated locking mechanisms. Neither one will unlock a door locked with the other one.

Thank you both. But, what a f-ed up system. So, we should tape a fob battery somewhere under the car for emergencies, along with the synch instructions? What other moves have we here?

Put a copy of it in your trunk, along with the battery. You can get into the trunk, still.

Well, IMO, the keyless entry on our car......, well......., sucks. Therefore, I disabled my engine immobilizer and use the key to lock the door. My fob sits in a drawer.
