They are required for the Elise, because the Elise clams come from separate pieces from a mold (basically a mixture of fiberglass and resin is pushed into a mold and cured). The Exige is handlaid fiberglass like you'd expect, so it can be done all at once without the seam. I think the aesthetics of removing the seam is largely supported by people, but it does scream "I've had body work done". Good documentation (aka lots of pictures before, after, and curing) goes a long to restoring value, but if you're doing all this works because of an accident, pretty much all the loss of value comes from that. If it is just for kicks and giggles, you'll have to convince buyers it wasn't because of a wreck, so that's where documentation helps.

This is an excellent opportunity to try another color. What that color is...entirely up to you. Maybe something that plays well with the OEM color, for those out of the way places that don't get covered in a repaint?

Those hard to get places that are difficult or expensive to reach is why I have always preferred keeping the color the same as oem. Obviously a different beast vs a normal car but thatís just me. Never like the idea of one color outside and different color door sails, engine compartment etc.

Not owning a lotus not a clue if everything would be repainted or if some of the CO would still be in certain places.

For that reason and also resale value, personally I would keep it stock.

If you want a different color you can get the car wrapped
