So, the number of SC's can increase for certain years, if the above is accurate. Albeit marginally (and the corollary is true).
Dylan:

Yes, the numbers will change, but the purpose of this thread was to provide U.S. production figures for Elise's and Exige's as they left the factory, and not a Registry of conversions or survivor's, etc.

Also, you are correct that Lotus will recognize an NA car installed with a Factory Supercharger kit as an SC.

97% 2008 Elise Left

No idea how accurate it is. I assume (but do not know) that the info includes cars with rebuilt titles so the above would be an estimate of "how many are left" and not "how many were totaled" - I think considering that, the estimate seems reasonable.

Great work! Thanks for sharing.

re: your exige list

I may have found the FOUR Canadian Final Exiges...but it probably muddied the water even more

I have the isotope Green #4of30

the other 3 "Final" exiges sold by my dealer...they all have Final edition spec'ed rims and final spec'ed trim/packages...and I assumed they were all final editions

It's absolutely fine to muddy the waters, as the goal is correct information.
Hopefully it will all be sorted out.

Yes, Los has proof of a blue FE.
I don't remember seeing it in the info provided by Lotus.
I'll double check. So far #s 5 and 20 don't seem right.
I don't have record of a blue or red FE Exige in Canada.
It should be carbon grey and ice white...? :/

Copied and pasted straight from an email from Lotus. I'm guessing they've mixed up their records? Maybe carbon grey and ice white should really be blue and ardent red. Los, please see if you can get anymore info from that dealership. Thank you!

I have a 91 British Racing Green special edition miata with only 21K miles on it now. I always loved the old Lotus Elans but did not have the courage to own one so I got a copy so to speak. Very cool cars.

TheInventor:

Thank you for sharing the complete information with VIN numbers. Perhaps the Dealer changed the orders on 2 cars and they were produced in Red and Blue, instead as orginally spec'd. Also note the "B" registration which denotes Canadian cars.

I believe those two to be the ones that Andy Graham told me about that were un-numbered.

I suppose for now we can just list them as 2 extra Canadian FE Exiges? If we could get their VIN#s or find out if they were some# of 30 we could clarify~

The First post of this thread has been updated to reflect 2 additional Canadian unnumbered 2011 Final Edition Exige S260's, one in Ardent Red and the other in Laser Blue, unless additional information comes forward.

Thanks,

Shouting out to 2010 Elise / Exige owners. Anyone have an Andy Graham Lotus of certificate / letter of provenance with overall Elise / Exige 2010 U.S. Production numbers?

Thanks,

The '91 BRG Miata is a very nice edition, which I believe Mazda produced 3,997, which is on the rarer side of the spectrum for Miata's. With only 21k miles, you are averaging less than 1,000 miles per year, so it must be well cared for.

Thanks for sharing,

Thanks and please see the following question, which in no way do I intend to be argumentative: if one or more 2009 cars, for example, were converted from NA to SC, would a provenance certificate reflect the original or current number of SC cars? By that I mean, is it possible that even the very first C of P issued for 2009 might have already included converted cars?

Statistics cited in a Lotus Certificates of Vehicle Provenance reflect cars as they left the factory, and those statistical numbers will not change. The certificate and letter will provide information on the production sequence, list of options, number of cars that came in a given color and number of interior color combinations, when available. It is a great service and it is car specific, and you should contact Andy Graham at Lotus to see how he would handle a Factory Supercharger install in a Certificate. Samples of Certificates and Letters can be found on Google Images: "Lotus Provenance Certificate".

BTW, anyone - please - I need information from a Certificate and/or letter for both a 2010 Lotus Elise and Exige in providing overall U.S. production figures for 2010 Elise's and Exige's

One aspect I may not have mentioned, is that Lotus will change the service history of the vehicle to reflect the conversion from NA to SC. This is important in the event there is any recalls or maintenance specific issues involving SC vehicles.

The overall numbers for the chart are almost complete. From a production numbers standpoint Lotus Elise / Exige owners have something rather special in a production vehicle. Many could care less as to the numbers produced, and appreciate the vehicle for what it does on the road or track. But the car was a game-changer when introduced, much like the Datsun 240Z, Mazda Miata, S2000...sure hardly as exotic as the Elise / Exige, but all were game-changers. Unlike the Elise / Exige they were also produced in huge numbers, with the S2000 more than 10X and the first generation Miata's almost 35X Elise / Exige Production. So the Elise / Exige is a somewhat "rare" game-changer.

On the other hand, from a pure numbers standpoint, the Lotus Elise / Exige was the most successful car in the company's history (seems to fly in the face of the earlier point as to its rarity, but let's face it Lotus's are rare birds).

If there is ever a successor, could the production numbers from 2005 to 2011 provide telling information for a successful run of 2nd generation cars?
