The overall numbers for the chart are almost complete. From a production numbers standpoint Lotus Elise / Exige owners have something rather special in a production vehicle. Many could care less as to the numbers produced, and appreciate the vehicle for what it does on the road or track. But the car was a game-changer when introduced, much like the Datsun 240Z, Mazda Miata, S2000...sure hardly as exotic as the Elise / Exige, but all were game-changers. Unlike the Elise / Exige they were also produced in huge numbers, with the S2000 more than 10X and the first generation Miata's almost 35X Elise / Exige Production. So the Elise / Exige is a somewhat "rare" game-changer.
On the other hand, from a pure numbers standpoint, the Lotus Elise / Exige was the most successful car in the company's history (seems to fly in the face of the earlier point as to its rarity, but let's face it Lotus's are rare birds).
If there is ever a successor, could the production numbers from 2005 to 2011 provide telling information for a successful run of 2nd generation cars?
