Hi Im building a replica of the BPR Esprit from 1996

I have bought the UMB body kit from Thailand and it is very Close to the dimensions of the real car. I have tried for several years to get the real bodyparts, but With no Luck. Im happy I went for UMB bodykit now. I will post pics and updates on this thread. My car WILL be finished in summer 2014 and it will be BLACK as it should be !!!

And it hurt to cut the inner fendres on the Esprit, but it had to be done, bigger Wheels takes more Space !!! And Im today finished With all 4 inner fenders, and they will welcome huge Wheels !!! 345/35-18 at the rear !!!!

I have 235/40-17 on the front of my 89 SE and 285/35-18, with no problem without power steering... just don't run a lot of front caster.

I know what you mean about cutting the body of an Esprit!

I helped my friend cut the rear panels off this Esprit, when he wanted to make it 5" wider for 335/35-18's.

The car is a jacked up on the pic's but you can see it will fit inside the Wheel Arch, the rims are 12x18 OZ futura racing, custom made !!!

Have you seen Mike Sekinger's site with his Esprit GT1 replica and the actual GT1 that he owned for a while?

yes, I was in contact With him for a while, but he could't get me the Wheel Arches. Several years ago. Think he should have done more to his great GT1 replica. The front bonnet and the frond bumber should have been cut, and of course lost those foglights to make room for bigger holes to the brake cooling !!!

This Picture is take by me at Anderstorp in 1996 BPR series. The Esprit did keep the McLarens behind a long time so the other turbo car could win, Anders Olufsons ferrari f40 got a only win this year at Anderstorp thanks to Lotus Esprit GT1. You find some footage on youtube if you are int. !!! search for Lotus esprit gt1 !!!

I remember watching part of that Anderstorp race on TV. It was some show about the McLaren F1, I think I taped it to VHS, probably at my mom's house still...

Yes, it was a great race, the long straight on Anderstorp favor the turbo cars. The McLarens coulden't get in front of one of the esprits and and the F40 had a easy task of making a good lead. Well one of the Esprits ended up in the gravel and the other one got gearbox problems !!!
