Lotus should have the saved the money they spent on a graphic design team and invested it in further crash testing for the GT430 front bumper.

So much of branding is about feel. How does the logo feel to a consumer? That may sound weird, but we react to things based on many, many complex factors. We here are all very close to the Lotus brand, of course, and therefore biased by our own ideas about what it is to us, and what it should be. To me, the new logo feels like something you would see on one of those big bags of generic cereal on the bottom shelf in the grocery store. The logo it replaces feels like something that would be found on the wrapper of a fine cigar, or on the letterhead of a world-renowned five-star hotel. It exudes class and heritage and quality. But this is subjective.

Geez... I'm with the majority. It looks cheap and as if some kid drew it up. I'm all up for the simplicity in our cars, but not like this, IMO.

It's a little late in the year for an April Fools joke, right?

Just for reference, here's a bunch of 1950s automotive logos. Which one doesn't belong?

I believe in the Carfection video the head designer mentioned that they might not have that as the design for the final car because it was so hard to do correctly. Guess if there is no accent to wrap that gets a lot easier

Agree with everyone. It looks terrible and cheap. I’ve already made a comment on Lotus’ Instagram page...I think we all need to let them know how we feel

Well, at least the 3D gradient effect is gone, that is so 90's... As for the new one, looks like it is trying a bit too hard to fit in with the beards and craft beer crowd. Still, could be a lot worse (Toyota Logo, anyone?)

I agree with most here. Not a fan. I understand the "old" logo may have looked dated, but the new one looks cheap.

But what is the difference between 'dated' and 'has a history and is instantly recognizable'? There's a reason that Mercedes has used the three pointed star for most of a century and that BMW's spinning propeller and Ford's blue oval haven't really ever changed. They work. They provide brand recognition.

Why fidget with the logo in such a non-harmonious way instead of just reverting to the earlier sanserif logo?

I think the new logo might show better on the Norwich City FC kit than the old logo, hence the change for marketing and easy recognition. I'm guessing the cars will still get chrome accents on the badges to dress them up.

Designed before lunch by the same linear thinkers who messed up the front end of the Evora.

The thing is, this could be and likely is, just the harbinger of the sort of taste and intellect we will be subjected to.

Glad weve had the genuine article over the years. Was a great part of my life.

Anyone can make something complicated. It takes genius to make it simple. Einstein.

Looks like it would suit the new "Made in China" branding.

The whole logo crap for virtually any brand that has existed for some time is essentially "new coke".....an exercise in .... well you know.....2 stones and a thing in between two support structures that get manipulated. New logo? Unnecessary.... but I'll live with it... like I had a choice

Connected with Morris Dowton on Linkedin, he was head of Lotus Manufacturing 1965 through 2003.

He opined the following, relative to the logo: "I think anyone who purchases a new future Lotus, Im sure the Lotus factory would fit a badge of the customers choice, or get the Dealer
to fit one."

Lotus has always been willing to do one-offs if the customer wants to pay.

Or...swap out the badge yourself.
