Cool, but it's listed as 2004 Lotus Elise 111R.

Isn't the 111R a '05?

I had the good fortune to try -out GT4 and Forza Motorsports (Xbox) within a week of each other and I must say, Forza is going to bury GT4. It just can't compete with the power of the xbox.

My buddy just got an xbox for xmas that had it's harddrive replaced with every xbox game on the market + every original atari game pre-loaded. It's set up so every new game he rents is automatically burned into the harddrive.

All for the low price of $300! Gotta love the black market!

Nope. The 111R started as a 2004 model year car. The Federal model started production at about the same time but as a 2005my car.

Thanks for the link!!

WTF is up with the March '05 release?

Thank god the FTO LM is there. I wish they put the McLaren F1 LM there instead of the ugly long tail GTR. Why the hell do they still include those forklift cars?

There's a Celica GTS SS there with 279 HP. I wonder if that is a 2zz with a turbo.

No C6 Corvette.

Are you basing this on the physical models or the scenery? I'd rather have the former than the latter... Also, the Xbox doesn't seem to have the same options in driving wheels as the PS2. I admit tho to not knowing much about the whole gaming scene, but was thinking about getting a PS2+GT4... will consider althernatives.

When you think of the graphical power of the Xbox vs. PS2, there is really no contest. I felt that the Xbox driving games still couldn't compete with GT3, though. That was until I tried out Forza.

The online play is going to be better than Project Gotham 2 and the tracks and cars have much better physics and modeling. Plus, it'll have something that PS2 won't - Ferrari's!!! Like GT3, you will be able to "tune" your car as well as create custom graphics. Online play will also enable car trading back and forth as well as damage. The demo I had included Laguna Seca - a track that I've turned well over 800 laps in real life. It's the first game to get turn 6 right!!! All other games totally missed the essence of that turn.

I'm still going to buy GT4...I'm a car geek and I wouldn't be complete without it. But I think I'll be sinking most of my free time into Forza.

The graphical abilities of an Xbox really has nothing to do with how the game is played. As a game developer, I know the Xbox clearly has the leg up on everyone. But its features are relatively useless if the game makers don't make full use of them. So I think to say that one game will be better than the other, simply because the console its going to be released for is more powerful, is a bit unfair.
It's a common assumption that games on the Xbox are "better" simply because it's the most "powerful" console currently available. This is simply untrue.

I also think that it's a bit unfair to judge GT4 (the final release) based on a demo. Specially one that's been released before the final product.

Forza may have Ferrari's... but I'll trade them any day for Ayrton Senna's F1 cars in GT3

Trust me...wait 'till you compare them side by side...I met the Forza developers and they're all car nuts like us - as are the GT4 team. They set out to make the Gran Turismo franchise look like Pong and to set the bar higher than the current competition could reach. If I'm wrong, you can spread all kinds of vicious rumors about me on the message board and I'll verify all of them!

I thought that GT4 was supposed to be released a year ago, at least that is when it was originally planned. Can someone please tell me how this game can be so slowly developed? Also PS3 is already on sale in Japan and although I know that it iwll be backwards compatible, GT4 alread missed the christmas market, and someone over there needs to get it togeather. Remember that GT3 was released almost 4 years ago. That is a long time to develop something - or not develop something.

I have a suspicion that the development is going slowly and that new cars are continually being released. I think it will be interesting to see how many of these "concepts" are on sale bt the time this game is released.

You may be correct. My information came from my 15 year old cousin who is a videogame freak. Sorry if I was incorrect. I guess I should have known that 15 year old boys really don't know everything

eliseum how did u try out GT4 when it just came out 2 days ago in Japan and won't be available in the US for another month at least? I'm thinking if you tried it at an autoshow it may not have been the final version.
Every thing that I have read from guys in Japan who have GT4 seem to paint the exact opposite picture you described. Do you know if Forza can be used with a 900 degree steering wheel? This is something I have been wondering.
Also, any idea how many real life tracks Forza has. I love doing real tracks in video games, its a great way to learn them.
From what I can gather, those that have GT4 in Japan seem to feel that they would never ever want to play GT3 again because GT4 is that much better. Only time will tell for us here I guess.

I've played GT4 Prolouge a while ago. It's been "out" in some form or another for at least a year.

Haven't played Forza yet, but I'm just getting into the Xbox thing. Mainly because everyone and their mother has a modded one.

I have not touched GT3 since I've sampled GT4. And I bought the PS2 solely for that game!

If you talk to the guys who had prologue and now have GT4 they will tell you there is not a whole lot of similarity, especially when using it with the new Logictech wheel.
That's kinda why I was wondering how he played GT4. It seems that there are many things that are actually in the final version of the game that Kazunori had said flat out in interviews would not be in the game. Things like the progressive scan ability.
This is the opening video of the Japanese version of GT4 (requires Divx). If you skip into the 1'40 point where the new music starts playing its all in-game footage from that point on. I like how it has a Lotus Seven type car at the very end
GT4 Opening Video (Japan version)

I know there are some really good videos of Forza out there, maybe someone has a link to one for comparision. I still think its too early to compare the physics of the 2 games.
