Who Care? It doesn’t take away from my Liz one bit. Personally I have no use for bikes. Too easy to get dead riding bikes around here.

It just seems kinda hypocritical on many levels when their poster boy sells his Elise. Especially after riding so many people for having any negative words for the Elise. Uhm...with 3 years planning for the Elise he didnt realize he liked bikes better or couldn't afford both....weird Locking up the other thread was even more strange .. but hey good luck.

1fst,
Don't really think I need to justify selling my car, if you're not happy with it, I'm very sorry for you. I fail to see how anything I do with this car affects you in anyway.

And I'll repeat once again, I'm NOT SELLING THIS CAR BECAUSE I"M DISAPPOINTED IN IT, IT'S A GREAT CAR, but my priorities have changed.

If that's not acceptable, sorry about that.

1fst - perhaps you can be the next "poster boy" I hear the position's open

To save bandwidth on the board any complaints, whines, etc. please direct to my pm box or email me directly at [email protected] I'm sure most of the guys/gals here care less about hearing it than I do.

I was promised the position of 'Poster boy' if it ever came available again. It was part of a deal involving my saying either nothing or nicey-nicey stuff about California from now on. I kept my part of the damn bargain!

Chris,

Sorry to see you have to sell your Elise, but as you said, priorities change. Some of us are lucky enough to be able to afford & have time for multiple passions, some aren't - some will be at another point in life.

You are/were a good contributer to this list, and I don't understand the attitude of some in these threads. As far as I'm concerned, you will always be a "Lotus guy" and more than welcome here or at any other Lotus gathering...

Good luck selling your Elise, and good luck with your bikes.

Hey Chris, i understand your not disappointed with the Elise, or is it, not satisfied enough to keep it, lol? You dont need to justify anything to anyone. Just as I dont for thinking it was kinda of a strange move for someone who has been so vocal over every aspect of the car. Why grow such thin skin all of a sudden? As you once stated to me " dont take anything I may say too seriously" .... good luck with the sale.

A couple of thoughts...

The point that Chris is selling his car means nothing really. Just like the fact he was the first one who got one. Just a photo op. A way to get some press.

If the second person to get an Elise decided to sell, nobody would even care.

Chris has always been a Lotus fan, but probably more to the point, an Arnie fan. I don't expect that to change. His reasons for deciding he needs to sell his car really should not be called into question. None of us really know his bank account and he needs enough to call his decision into question.

Look, I have come to know Chris..at least to some extent. He tends to wear his heart on his sleeve about how he feels. Most of the time, he was not being a cheerleader (any more than I was) but any of us that had a car, or had some more data to work from.. than what was told to frustated waitlisters by a less-than-forthright salesman... we were all branded with the same brush. How dare you stick up for Lotus? Most of us learned to shut up for the most part and just wait for most people to get their cars. Chris took a little longer to come to that conclusion.

I think the fact he decided to sell now, means very little in terms of Lotus. It only matters in the light of perception and marketing. I am certain that PR for Lotus would rather Chris took the car to his grave. But he didn't. And it is not that big of a deal. Chris just became more visible because of he was so involved in the Elise community here, and at Roadfly during the early days.

Chris has been a help to me, and to Lotus I am sure. What I don't want, is for him to not feel welcome as part of this community, just because he made this decision. Then, when he gets that Exige, he will still feel a part of Elisetalk.

Thanks.

Everyone just breath in for a second... What I was trying to say is why would Lotus (such a particular company) be willing to give the first car to someone that "might" sell the car.

No. 1 of most cars, much less special cars, are typically held by collectors, or die hard enthusiast... Not that I'm slingin Chris.

I've read this thread and the original one and don't understand either what the big deal is. Sh*t happens. Chris selling his car does not AT ALL hinder me or anyone else (I'm sure) from buying this car. I sort of know what kind of car it is having seen one, sat in one, ridden in one, but not driven one. This is the only car other than an M3 that I'd buy. It's the max I can afford and looks badass as all of us know. You know what would have been worse of all? If he sold the Elise to buy an ordinary car. I think that the fact that he's trading it up to race bikes is a compliment. I thank him for helping bring the car here. Before this car I was unsure about what car to buy, even with the M3. It wasn't my style.

Yawn. What Chris decides to do with his car, is his business. He was and remains a nice guy, an honest indiviudual, and a Lotus fan, and that's what counts.

Alll the best Chris ! Mike G.

Maybe because Chris is a Lotus enthusiast, and also happened to have the first deposit down at the dealer closest to LCU? Heck he probably had the first deposit down in the US...

The pictures of Chris getting his car was a photo op for Lotus - they were delivering the first Elise in the US. That's all that mattered - it could have been anyone as far as marketing purposes.

There is no need to flame on Chris. Instead of questioning his enthusiasm as a lotus fan, why don't one of you step up and buy his car? He is selling a red elise with touring for a reserve of only 40k!

Sucks that you can't afford to keep your car chris
I was hoping once I gained some experience with my car I would catch you at some track days.
