A couple of thoughts...
The point that Chris is selling his car means nothing really. Just like the fact he was the first one who got one. Just a photo op. A way to get some press.
If the second person to get an Elise decided to sell, nobody would even care.
Chris has always been a Lotus fan, but probably more to the point, an Arnie fan. I don't expect that to change. His reasons for deciding he needs to sell his car really should not be called into question. None of us really know his bank account and he needs enough to call his decision into question.
Look, I have come to know Chris..at least to some extent. He tends to wear his heart on his sleeve about how he feels. Most of the time, he was not being a cheerleader (any more than I was) but any of us that had a car, or had some more data to work from.. than what was told to frustated waitlisters by a less-than-forthright salesman... we were all branded with the same brush. How dare you stick up for Lotus? Most of us learned to shut up for the most part and just wait for most people to get their cars. Chris took a little longer to come to that conclusion.
I think the fact he decided to sell now, means very little in terms of Lotus. It only matters in the light of perception and marketing. I am certain that PR
for Lotus would rather Chris took the car to his grave. But he didn't. And it is not that big of a deal. Chris just became more visible because of he was so involved in the Elise community here, and at Roadfly during the early days.
Chris has been a help to me, and to Lotus I am sure. What I don't want, is for him to not feel welcome as part of this community, just because he made this decision. Then, when he gets that Exige, he will still feel a part of Elisetalk.
