Elise review on the Autoweek website

Here's the link:
http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content...._code=08403923

They didn't drive the Fed one, but a good read.

I don't recall seeing it before. It has a lot of common themes in it, though, because they're not reviewing the Fed version and they did a good job of summing up where things currently stand - the changes that will be made to the car, etc. Their driving conditions also seem similar to the TopGear review video, so I'm guessing that Lotus had a press event at their track a short while back.

Check the line date again.. it's showing CURRENT (server) date and time.... (for those that print the article.

I think it's a very OLD article because there's a few things that have changed...

The American Elise will have a 120-hp low-emissions engine
No, it won't.

Lotus Cars USA CEO Arnie Johnson said at this year’s Los Angeles auto show that a federalized Elise will be here by fall 2003
You mean 2004, right?

That autoweek article originally appeared right after the 2002 LA auto show. Which was when the car was originally scheduled to arrive in 03. But due to various business concerns (Proton wanted 100% ownership of Lotus, so they had to buy % from Artioli who maintained ownership after Bugatti went belly up).

The article was loaded with misquotes, saying Arnie J. had said the car would have 120 hp which was NEVER the case.

You would not be the first. I have run into this article on other forums. Why would they put the present date on the byline????

Yes I got the feeling instantly that this was "deja vu, all over again". I'm happy to know now what I was hoping when I first read this piece, that not everything Autoweek publishes turns out to be true. I think we'll be getting a substantially better car than Autoweek implies in this piece, not just a "gutted" Elise but an upgraded one !

I hate auto week, they always make things up. They are the same ones who said bmw is developing twin turbo v6 for 2003. BMW and turbo = not since the 70's
