Motor Trend - The Future of Lotus

At the risk of inciting yet another litany of uninformed opinions and tirades against Lotus and the future model line up I am posting this on-line article from Motor Trend. It discusses all of the current and future models as well as engines in a time line format and it seems to use sources from actual people who work at Lotus rather than press releases and media speculation.

I found it interesting and am cautiously optimistic.

That's a good read.

There was another magazine that did a similar article...EVO was it?

In that magazine, apparently Bahar and Zimmermann thought that Lotus went too far with the Elise/Exige lineup. Something about being too purist. I took a snap shot. Need to find that pic.

I bought an exige s260 because it is truely pure... You have to be a dedicated car guy.
I agree completely purist and I love it. I would be building an Ultima GTR otherwise, still plan too =).

I built (and sold) an Ultima GTR. You have to put a LOT of effort into it to make it as nice as even an Exige. If I did a kit car again, it would probably be a GT40 replica.

I do hope Lotus makes most if not all of the cars it plans. I'd like the new Elan I think.

Good read. Actually makes it look like lotus is trying to stick to it's roots of making cars lighter than the competition while evolving to not be left behind.

Overall, Lotus is hoping to come in well below the old Espirt's 3300-pound curb weight.

If they can make that happen, it will be one of the best cars in the world
