I was at a cruise night tonight in Downers Grove. There was a DJ/MC playing oldies, he mentioned a few times that he had some old car magazines somebody just dropped off for anyone that was interested. He mentioned it a few times so I went over picked one up, Road & Track Jan 1963. Cover has a Ferrari 330 TRI/LM. I open it up and the first thing I see is an advertisement for the Lotus Elite, oddly claiming that as it is a high performance engine it needs a quart of oil ever 300 miles (and the auto writers complain about my RX-8 needing a quart every 1000 if driven hard). Anyway, the magazine is now mine. I flip through it at home and the entire magazine is full of Lotus awesomeness.
A quick recap of what is in the mag
The Elite advertisement
Feature article - Driver's Report : Lotus 23.
Preview article on the new Lotus Elan with a full 2 page cutaway illustration
Several articles recapping the fall racing season including the Northwest GP won by Dan Gurney in a Lotus 19, Grand Prix of the United States won by Jim Clark in a Lotus 25. Other various races have pictures of Lotus race cars.
An article titled "The Lotus and Clark Expedition to Indianapolis"
An advertisement for the Shelby AC Cobra. 0-60 in 4.2 $5995. (not lotus related but seriously 6 grand for a Cobra)
And then I get to the classifieds, which is the first thing I flip through when I get a new Autoweek. Anyway, there are some real deals if you only had a time machine.
