Like many people I was nervous about how high the temperature climbed before the fan turned on. However, with the recommended amount and type of coolant, boiling should not occur till 228 degrees F. The plastic end-caps on the factory radiator make me nervous. My girlfriend's miata radiator (which also has plastic endcaps), cracked and failed at our last autocross event; her car was nowhere near the boiling point when this occured. Plastic does not age well at elevated temperatures. *When* the radiator fails on the Elise, it will be replaced with an all aluminum radiator.
