Please fill in the blank with a three digit number...

Your sitting in traffic, summer, sunny, 90 degrees, top off, no AC, and you are waiting for a traffic delay to pass. You are moving, just crawling along (3mph) but not enough to cool anything. The water temp climbs it's at 205 degrees. If it continues to climb, my radiator fans should turn on at _____ degrees and cool me down.

Lotus Elise #134 - S O L D BOE REV400 street car built at BOE in KC. , Stock motor, low boost w/stock cat/mani, 292whp, (5.95 lbs/hp) passes all 50 states emissions/OBD, BOE ST exhaust, ACT HDSS, BOE Clam Hinge, BOE Oil Cooler Relocation, BOE Surge Tank/750cc injectors, BOE Race Links, MWR Rear Lift Kit etc. 0-100 = you bet!

Tested this today. 207F on my 07 Exige is when they turn on. When you turn on the AC, the fans come on at half speed; once the temps rise to 207F, they kick in to the mid-point. Im not sure at what temp, but there is a final temp setting where the fans kick in full blast.

I found with the A/C turned on/above 207F, temps will decrease faster when at idle than with it off.

Like many people I was nervous about how high the temperature climbed before the fan turned on. However, with the recommended amount and type of coolant, boiling should not occur till 228 degrees F. The plastic end-caps on the factory radiator make me nervous. My girlfriend's miata radiator (which also has plastic endcaps), cracked and failed at our last autocross event; her car was nowhere near the boiling point when this occured. Plastic does not age well at elevated temperatures. *When* the radiator fails on the Elise, it will be replaced with an all aluminum radiator.

The lotus shop manual says that the fans kick on low speed at 208.4F then they'll kick on full speed at 213 or something like that... I can't recall the 2nd temperature exactly right now.
