Celica AC swap?

Ok so this is probably a longshot, and sorry in advance for making a kind of noob proposal, but since the celica 2zz engine is virtually identical, would using an ac pump from a celica (or maybe even the whole system) work by any chance?

Yes the Celica compressor will work, it's been done several times. The only difference is it has a larger pulley, but from what I've read it works just as well. If anything this is a good thing as it spins the compressor slightly slower which is easier on the pump and the engine.

So that being the case could you ramp up the pressure a bit more then to compensate?

If you dig through this section I'm sure you'll find some of the threads on the Toyota Compressor. Everyone who did it says the AC is perfectly cold with a normal charge. It's what I'll probably try next myself. Getting to that compressor is a bitch though.
