I will post some pics of the dual aircon soon. It is 4 vents behind the seats below the rear window. This is turned on by a button next to the gear knob.

On a side not, is it only me or is the group here not very active? I posted some questions in some new threads but no one seems to reply.

Maby i will just ask here as people are actually visiting this thread.
1. Does anyone know what bulbs are used in the new 2011 headlights for high and low beam?
2. Does anyone know the type of bulbs used in the cabin bulb light and the rear number plate lights?
3. Is there a way to know if my car has limited slip differential and traction control? My dealer doesnt know if it has it.?!?!

Hey Micheal,
Thanks for the reply. I figured out i dont have LSD or TC on my car which is annoying as hell ( i was told it has it!).
As for the bulbs i figured out they are H7's both high and low but still dont know what the number plate and cabin ones are.
I have had it for just 4 days, love it but sort off getting annoyed with it already. The breaks squeak, the front driving lights are there but dont work. The horn sounds diseased and i got sold a car thinking it has TC and LSD and it doesn't. All it has is a touring pack and a hard top.
Maby i should take a small lose and just sell it. :-(

P.S. Thanks for the link btw. Appreciate it.

I am sorry you are having negative feelings about this car so early in ownership As it is a 2011, get the defects fixed under warranty.

Here are the pics of the extra aircon in the middle east spec'd lotus. I also added pics of my car next to a friends hummer for size comparison :-) as well as pics of my other two rides. Hope this helps who was originally asking about the extra air con.

That dual AC would be awesome out here. You know what's funny is that the summer months are the only time I drive my Elise daily. The rest of the year it's just my weekend toy. But then again, September through May I'm on the VStar cruiser daily. No way I'd ride that thing in this heat though.

4 extra vents in the back is nice.

ktdre your car has to be under warranty obviously, just take it in. These are tic-tac problems you're listing. not a big deal.

Wow that secondary AC system is awesome! I want that option here :P Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures.

I guess I'll just have to move to Dubai to get it... lol.

Really looking forward to your photos, it's 33 degrees outside and the AC is barely coping

Thanks all for the replys. I am addressing these small issues with the dealer to correct. Sadly the dealer seems to know little to nothing about these cars so i might just be selling it. If someone is interested in it with the touring and hard top + soft top and dual aircon.. i can ship abroad (though not sure how we can do the transaction so it is secure for both parties). It is now 3 weeks old with 1000kms and 3 years international warranty. Thinking of selling at 37k USD+ shipping which shouldnt be more thank 1000 k i think to the states but need to check. I am just throwing this out there but still havent made up my mind on selling as will be loosing around 15k on this :-(..

P.s. Arni i already posted the pics of the vents before ur post :-)

I'd buy a 2011 car with the dual air-con for $37k in a heartbeat.

However it wouldn't be as easy as that. The US is very strict about "grey market" cars. If it was never intended for usage here it would be a legal nightmare trying to get it registered.

Thanks for the input on that, but the car is specd exactly the same as a US car. The only compulsory specs for the gulf is that it HAS TO HAVE the touring pack as standard and the extra aircon. As well as a compulsary fire extinguisher needs to be in the car (boot). Otherwise it is a regular lotus. Oh ya and the manual is in arabic :-) and a leaflet is supplied showing the things that are compulsory to be added for the gulf market.

Though it doesnt have the US compulsory side reflectors which everyone tends to delete from what i read on most cars coz they hate them.

P.s. Should i sell it at a higher price? I choose 37 coz i would imagine whoever buys would need to pay registration tax on top of the sale price.

I suspect if the VIN wasn't originally intended for import into the United States it doesn't matter how it's spec'd out.

There is no tax for a used car transaction in my state. All of the states have different rules so it'll be tough to tell you for certain what the right price is or how you should go about this.

why not just order the parts to retrofit from Lotus? yeah you probably have to wait until next summer to get the parts but at least you don't have to deal with registration.

Or like the others said you can just move somewhere that is not hotter then Hades

In that case i guess u guys should definitly consider retro fitting this. It really does make a big difference. Anyone know if retrofitting traction control and LSD is easy to be done and if u advise it? As the dealer told me it has it i will ask them to install it if it is doable without major issues developing because of it.

Traction control is very easy to add. LSD on the other hand is a very involved job and the book time is probably 10-14 hours (maybe more).

I don't think it's worth it to retrofit my Exige. It has the harness bar behind the seats, harnesses, etc that would most likely block some of the airflow. Not to mention the conversion is probably really expensive.

You guys may appreciate the fact that in the northern UK the opportunity for using the aircon is rather less than in southern US or Dubai. However there are times when it makes a difference if it works. With mine, the only noticeable change is the little blue light on the dashboard comes on!! Otherwise, no effect at all. Before I take it in, can anyone give me some tips as to how to check it over, for example to see if the compressor unit is working or likely that it just need gassing.

I is readily apparent when looking into the engine bay if the compressor is operating. The main reason it does not operate is low refrigerant. If you have to get it recharged, get a leak test done.

On a related note, I also learned that I can't drive 3 hours on the freeway in the Lotus when it's only 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit outside.

The heater doesn't keep up with conditions like that. We were cold, even with our coats and gloves on.
