I just was sent the following from another Elise owner, not sure if he posts on this,

I spoke with Lotus Cars and they said the NHTSA was slightly premature in their release of this data. Additionally, they shared that any Lotus affected by the recall will be notified by Lotus Cars via mail in 4- 6 weeks.

3.) An option for reimbursement of past performed remedies will be available.

1) How do they know the owners who bought the cars second hand? Unless the NHTSA gets registration info from individual states, they would have no way of knowing who most of the owners are.

2) Is that the total production number for 05/06? I do believe that is a bit higher than what our estimate was.

I have a sector111 gPAN. Will this cause an issue for the recall where I would somehow be denied elgibility due to a modiied oil system (bs i know...)?

Has anyone called their dealer to discuss using the RLS kit

JonathanLA called Galpin Lotus this morning, and they were unaware of the recall, which leads me to believe that they don't have a solution?

Click on the pdf file link in post #11, go to page 2 of the document, and read sections 573.6(c)(2) and 573.6(c)(6). Those sections will answer most questions about the Elise and Exige model years and production months affected by the recall and nature of the problem and why 2007+ subsequent model years are not covered.

Thanks! Mine was manufactured in July 2007 so here's hoping I won't have any problems. I wonder what the manufacture date was on Zen Dude's 07 that failed?

My guess is that this recall will take effect shortly after the federal V6 Exiges hit showrooms.

This is what he posted at the time. "I have a late '07 Elise and my blew out on the passenger side about a month ago. What an expensive mess." https://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f312...s-nhtsa-94000/

"Lotus believes from the data as regards vehicles built after October 2006 that the improved crimping process appears effective"

Effective except for my 2007 that failed, along with all of the other 2007+ instances.

I've since replaced with the NCI hoses, which I'm quite happy with. Too bad the rest of us 07+ people don't qualify for reimbursement.

Not all 2007. I just checked mine. Manufactured Date is Sept 2006 so it still falls under the period that is affected. Once Lotus has a plan, I'll call my dealership.

that will be the problem for some people...

do you really want some one taking apart your car, drilling holes in the sills covers, and re-assembling everything when they do NOT want to be working on it?

you may replace a potential problem, with a real one.

"I really started paying attention to cars was when they came out with the Nissan Z, the first body. Then I seen the Cherokees, the old square ones, and I was like, “Wow, that’s cool.” Then I seen the Isuzu jeeps and I seen the Wranglers."

Damnation !

I just actually took notice of the Month of Manufacture on the door a couple weeks ago I recall it being 06 something...on an 07 Exige S

and it is not parked in my garage at home.

Makes for suspense until I can confirm my fortune good or ill

Who would have thought that NCI And RLS would receive government subsidies At least I hope I get reimbursed for my investment with them. Then I will probably turn that check back around and buy more goodies from them!!

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.
