Oil line recall

just a heads up had my elise in for oil line recall .they take the front fenders off to do this and in doing so they broke my windshild didnt say any thing.but notice it on the way home went back they were good with fixing it BUT. so look the car over the cracks were wright where the vin nbr is also look at fender alinement have agood one

oil line recall

Sorry but i did 2 full oil line replacements and never went near windshield. I would suspect other damage. .02

mmm wonder it starts below cover and when i look at vin it wasnt there being second owener i had them look it up to see if it been done so now you realy got me wondering

Punctuation ftw.

There are way too many oil line recall threads. They all need to be merged.

They shouldn't have gotten anywhere near the windshield.

Front clam removal -- brackets for top rear bolts must be carefully guided to miss the windshield when replacing the clam. Potential for disaster worried me enough that I taped cardboard to the windshield for clam replacement after DIY radiator replacement. (my help -- wife and neighbor lady -- were very unskilled and not that coordinated )

There also is the possibility of a mechanic getting careless using a ratchet on the allen head screws that attach the front covers and hitting the windshield.

I can attest to that. Centering the steering wheel on my dune buggy build I cracked the windshield with a ratchet. I was so pissed! Things can happen even when being careful.

Bingo!! clam must be pulled form the sides in order to clear the windshield, if you push down on the access panel base to force it into place and nick the glass as soon as you drive the car you'll notice the windshield begin to crack, that's probably the reason you didn't see it at first.
