Test fitment of the first article went great. This is essentially the first part made from production tooling. It is on the car and it looks and sounds absolutely awesome. My supplier is a few hours away so I had to drive the car on back roads and on the freeway. The sound is wicked on the second cam and dead quiet when cruising. I honestly believe this is a breakthrough for our Lotus community. If you are sick of drone yet still want a great sound - when your foot is in it - this is the kit. I'm especially happy with how light it is.

I also like how simple the final design has turned out. The inlet is straight into the muffler can instead of bent. The can itself is also straight and then the tip comes out, makes a 90deg turn. I decided to go with a brushed finish and offer polished as an option. The welds look really great. The tip will be as you see. I decided against the double wall tip as I really like the purity of this look and many of you agree. I know this won't please some so I apologize upfront. When I introduced the naked rear to the US market, I was also flamed for a period of time. Now look how popular it has become A diffuser exit system will be next once we get rolling on this.

I forgot to weigh it before we installed it. The prototype weighed just under 15.5lbs and I expect this to be the same or lighter. Production is underway and we expect to see them in 3-4 weeks.

I want to meet up with some local Lotus owners so they can hear and see this for themselves. I'll try to get something organized this weekend.

Nice work Shinoo! It looks great clean and simple. I'm sure I speak for many when I say I want to see some db readings and maybe see a price point.

Hi Shinoo. Can you share some more technical info?
To which frequency did you tune the Helmholtz chamber? do you know how many db the exhaust is making on that frequency range in comparison to stock unit?
Also track guys will be interested in overall db at high rpm.

Thanks

Our supplier is not willing to give out too much detail on the frequency range that this was tuned for. They have a great deal of experience dealing with drone with all types of engines so target the 'bad' lower frequencies. They measured the car before and after to confirm. Drone is only one area that they address with the Helmholtz. They also do some additional tuning to get the soundtrack just right - and it rips!

We will get some dB measurements soon. This system is going to be too loud for severely dB restricted tracks like Laguna. Unless you are willing to coast or part throttle/low rpm when you cross the sound meter.

We focused on creating a system that would sound great with absolutely no regards to Laguna Seca. Luckily most of us spend more time on the street or unrestricted tracks so can be a bit more carefree with dB at WOT.

Our first batch of sonicFURY mufflers have arrived. Initial orders will ship out today! One great surprise is that they are even lighter than the First Article. 14.7lbs!

If you are looking for a great sounding, light muffler that does not drone, your system has arrived...

I would be interested to see a cut-away of the muffler.
Where is the helmholtz chamber located inside the muffler?
There isn't much space inside this muffler to have a large
chamber like on the Alfa 4C.

Once the packing blows out will drone be present or will
the muffler just not reduce decibels as much?

Waiting for the diffuser exit....-Robert

We won't be sharing a cut-away as you can imagine it gives away too much info.

There is plenty of space to achieve what we have done. Our partner is a exhaust specialist - they have the tools and experience to design it correctly. They are not simply fabricating mufflers from generic parts. If you select the right packing material, why would it 'blow out'? Unlike, repackable mufflers, the type of material in this muffler is designed for the life of the muffler.

Of course if you have a tune that shoots flames out of your tailpipe, you would be better off with a serviceable muffler and straight pipe......

I will ask them what happens to the sound if there is no sound deadening material.

My sector111 "TRACKpipe" blew out the packing in less than a year on my stock 220S, so is your new muffler using different material?

I will check. Was this with track use?

Yes, it was. AFAIK every traditional packing material will "blow out" eventually, even stainless steel. The only packing material I know of that won't "blow out" is lava rocks, which are sometimes used by the guys who race rotary motors at LS and need to pass sound. Anyway, I'm really just curious if this is a newer/non-traditional packing material.

Also, are these only going to be available with the welded on brackets? Or down the road will you switch to a non-fixed bracket?
