949 Racing... can you tell us what the planned offsets will be for the elige fitment wheels are going to be?

Turns out the AP brake caliper template we received from a helpful forum member does not have a hub reference. So we need a 211 platform car with OEM front AP 2 pot calipers in our shop to make some measurements. Anybody in So Cal that can help us out? We'll need the car for about an hour. We just take one wheel off and make a physical template off the actual brake. There is a free set of our forged lugs in it for your trouble. [email protected]

Willing to help. Sent you an e-mail. Note that the Elige platform is actually project 111, not 211.

949- Looking forward to the progress here. Have several class and overall track records with your rear 15x10 with a custom spacer. Love the wheels. They look right. The price is right. The weight is right.

PS- the 17s you're working on will certainly appeal to many from the cosmetic standpoint.... albeit be slower than the 15s But I do understand the desire for a 17 on the street and certain race classes that don't allow the faster 15....

Aren't a lot of the autocross guys running 15/17 setups? What's Glagola doing these days (other than twin charging)?

It sounds like they didn't really start in earnest until recently. I assume other projects got in the way (ND Miata for example). But ya, been a long time coming. Not holding my breath for this season.

Even then, it's not too damn hard to make a set of wheels these days, I mean, are they reinventing them? All they're really doing is building an unreasonable expectation in people's minds because if it's not an uber fantastic product when it finally comes to market, everyone will just be like WTF?

Good luck to them .

It would be cool if these were available for this season but not likely

First off, always glad to help Emilio! Let me know if you need a test fit car.

As to the rest of the community, I spoke with Emilio a bit about this project's status. The reason it's taken so long is that the Lotus wheel project was put on hold after the posts in 2011. This is because Emilio had taken initial measurements and realized that a Lotus fitment wouldn't work properly with the Miata fitments that he had; due to the large front caliper of the Lotus, a new tool would be required to do it properly. The other option was to push the offset outward, but Emilio wanted to keep it relatively close to stock as too large of a front offset difference from stock makes the steering feel funky. Tooling is expensive, so the project was put on hold until a solution could be found that would still allow the wheels to be affordable. That solution is here: 15x6 6UL

Due to the narrower wheel, the spokes on the 15x6s are pushed out more than the normal 6ULs to allow for more brake clearance. This means that the spokes, when paired with a proper width, would clear Lotus calipers. As such, the project is now moving forward and it's looking to be very exciting for the performance Lotus community.

We're not getting a 15x6. It'll be wider, as you would suspect from 949's history since they brought the first 15x8, 15x9, 15x10, etc. to Miatas. Just that the 15x6 tool for the face is being used for the wheel.

Yea it's too bad. I had their wheels on my Miata...loved the look and weight. And very affordable. But I had them in the Nickel fnish...and they would chip like crazy. I never curbed them, but I'd get random chips pop up once every few months.
