5.9 Earthquake in Northern Virginia!

Hopefuly the the Lotus were tucked safely into garages. Just went home to check, and most everything was fine. We were definitely rocking and rolling in Old Town Alexandria!

everyone is texting me about it - sounds like it was no big deal, other than it only happens about every 10 years.

"I really started paying attention to cars was when they came out with the Nissan Z, the first body. Then I seen the Cherokees, the old square ones, and I was like, “Wow, that’s cool.” Then I seen the Isuzu jeeps and I seen the Wranglers."

I'm about 50 miles away from the epicenter and luckily I drove mine to work today so it wasn't in the garage to sustain damage from falling stuff.

I was in Mountain View during the '89 quake. We had so many aftershocks that it felt like another big one would be coming. Let's hope for no aftershocks in VA!

Felt it big time on the 9th floor of an office tower in Toronto. That's some range! It must have been a wild ride closer to the epicenter.

Picture an office cubicle city where everyone stands up at the same time like a bunch of meerkats.

was about 20 miles SE from epicenter of Mineral VA

Definitely an odd feeling when you're not used to that sort of thing. The typical dramatists in the office were freaking out but was pretty much a non-event otherwise. They evacuated our campus buildings as a precaution.

Several people were asking with concern, "how's the data center?" - I was asking, "how's the parking garage?". Have had my Elise for not even two months, that would have been a bummer.

Watching from CA, we decided that it would be better for everyone if someone from an earthquake state reported such news to the fine citizens of the east. Oh, and could you send someone our way to keep every drizzle from becoming a "DOPPLER 2000 STORM WATCH 2011!" Fair trade okay???
