Ferrari 250 TR Smashes All-Time Auction Record

Sorry if this is a re-post, but as predicted a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR broke the all-time auction record at today's Ferrari Leggenda auction.

Hard to believe in this economy that someone would pay so much for a car...incredible.

"RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby’s, made history at the Ferrari factory in Maranello as a 1957 Ferrari 250 TR, chassis no. 0714TR sold for €9,020,000 at the third annual Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event to set a new world record for the most expensive motor car ever to be sold at auction."

wow thats quite a bit of cheddar. Is 12 million really the record?

i got to play around with that car a bit - its spiffy for sure, some historic factory race items on it. that is below the high estimate. i believe they were touting up to 16 mil. glad to see it sold well,

....nice paint job

hmm, Symbolic in Sorrento Valley does some very good work on super-rare cars (you were at the open house, right ?), I wonder if it was them ?

One of the guys at Symbolic did the paint and some other work on it at least. I talked to him for quit awhile (at the open house) about the car and he was vary happy to have worked on it.

The final, final results are in as well if interested:

Ferrari Leggenda e Passione Auction Results - RM Auctions | Sports Car Digest

Total sales volume was north of $28 million, which equals more than $1,000,000 per car sold...of course, a $12 million car will do that.
