Just leave it in the garage?

This is a lot with 850 spacces. I was at the very end of a row, about as far from the parking office as possible.

At first I think how wrong this is ...then I remember it's a rough, rude world out there with little room or tolerance for delicate finer things.

Park defensively.

Most people don't care about their own car let alone your fancy foreign sports car.

I would just take a different car. People don't pay any attention to lines drawn on the ground in a parking lot.

Was there damage or are you just annoyed at how close the hitch was?

Whenever I go shopping I try to park on one of those exterior rows that doesn't allow another car in front or behind.

Anyways, I'd be annoyed too with that hitch.

Seconded. This seems to especially true of people who drive larger cars more prone to do significant damage to yours. Hell, you should feel lucky if people in your neck of the woods pay attention while driving much less parking.

Drives a Prius (clearly knows nothing about cars).

I often park as far out in parking lots as possible, with maybe 20 or 30 open spaces from the last car, and return to my car a short time later to find a lone vehicle snugged up to mine when they had a hundred other free spaces to choose from. I just don't get it.

Fortunately I've never been damaged or had someone park that stupidly. I like the idea of removing the receiver hitch and setting it by the pickup's driver door, but I live in a small community where that truck driver might see my car again and then move on to vandalism.

Happened to me yesterday @ Target. Parked way out in a 50% spot with no other car within 20 or so spaces. Came out of Petsmart and could see cousin Eddie Griswold and his whole brood in the distance running a looky loo session around the Elise. By the time I got to the car they were gone, but their giant grocery hauler SUV was still there, parked less than a door swing away.

If you've ever ridden a motorcycle, you almost have to get used to it. You'll go into a shop and come out to find people sitting on it, putting their kids on it for a quick photo, etc.

Reminds me of that scene from Sons of Anarchy:

A friend of mine parked his overly well kept pickup out at the farthest spot in the work parking lot. A good 3 minute walk to get to any other car in the lot. Someone parked next to it and hit it on the way out.

When I had my Elise, I'd park right next to the carriage return corral with the pass door right next to it. Lots of room on the other side. Never had an issue with a car too close when I came out.

I'm a huge Sons fan. Bobby says "these are the before pictures". Priceless.

A little polite note suggesting that contact to your clam with his unnecessarily attached trailer hitch (should be illegal!!) will cost him or his insurance company $10,000. Please consider removing when not in use!! Oh and I have your license plate ##.

Our composite sides don't ding so don't sweat it. Just park properly. Don't be that diagonal or overlapping a$$ that asks for it.
