15x8 and 17x9 Wheels Option from Blackwatch Racing BWR

After lots of R&D we've finalized our Blackwatch Racing Wheels for the Elise.

A couple of things: These aren't Chinese made crap, these are made in the USA with Forged centers and hand-spun 6160 rim-shells in a 3 -piece racing wheel. Made by Bogart Racing, We've spent many iterations nipping and tucking these wheels under the stock bodywork so they fit perfectly under a stock Elise.

The best part is that since they are modular if you widen the car or cut the fenders you can just change the outer shells to get even wider wheels.

Any of you solo guys looking at ASP, FP, or SSM, 15x10 with 275/35R15 and 17x10 275/40R17 is a sweet setup. This setup would work well for roadrace as well.

Our street car is setup with Hankook RS-3s with 225/45R15s in the front and 255/40R17s in the rear. That is a whole lotta sticky tire for less than $500/set!

They are available powder coated like ours or you can get them polished as we do on our XP Car. These are built to order, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery!

The pics below are actual 15x8.5", though we will do 15x8, I think for production.

Awesome!

I know they probably aren't cheap but do you have any info on price? Also curious on weight.

440bhp E85 2006 Solar Yellow Elise.
The way it should have been delivered from the factory with Honda Power!

Cool. I was actually just looking at bogart wheels because I saw you guys run then. Curious on price. Also can you tell me what the main benefits of going for a 16 front to a 15. I know there are threads but I want to know your thoughts since you obviously believe in it. Thanks

Advantages of 15 inch over 16 inch:
Lighter wheel
Cheaper tires
Potentially (depending on your choice of tires) more downward (forward) rake on the car.

Storm titanium 2005 Elise with carbon fiber spoiler, BWR sway bar, BOE toe links, gPan2, LidBone, sector 111 wheel studs, Grey RAC Monolite wheels with toyo R1R, Team Dynamics 1.4 with Hoosier A6/R6s, Katana2 Supercharger, ECU with 265 flash. PPE headers w/decat, CEL angle eliminator, Silent touch catback, Rear Panel Eliminator, HKS intake, V2 fuel tank, Walbro255 fuel pump. HID lights.

I have the pics but apparently, we can't post them right now!

The advantage of the 15" is that there is much better tire availability. The 225/45R15s are pretty much the same size as 205/45R16s in diameter but the 225s are much wider.

Additionally lighter tires and wheels.

Fred this is a little bit confusiing would you mind clarifying the biggest/best wheel/tire setup can go on the stock lotus/exige with these wheels without having to cut fenders etc? (I don't care about SCCA classing) If you threw some alignment specs in there that would be HUGE as well. Thanks and keep up the good work!!!!!!

Bear in mind alignment will allow alot of flexibility AND not all wheels are created equal. Einke PF01s in 15x8 look good but hit the steering knuckle.

With our new setup we can get 17x9 rear and 15x8.5" front, it doesn't look like it rubs anywhere, except a bit on the rear fender liner where the liner bulges inward from a distortion i.e. shouldn't be an issue on anyone else's car.

I run zero to 1/8 toe out in front. Max stock camber front. Stockish rear with 1/16" total toe-in in the rear. Nothing exotic.

PICS FINALLY!!!!

15x10 with 275/35R15 and 17x10 275/40R17 are you saying this will fit without modifications to the body work??? or the street car setup that appears to be fine.

Thanks keep up the good work!

The 15x8(8.5) and 17x9 fit fine without mods. If you decide to get serious at the track or autoX unbolting just the outer rimshells allows you to make 15x10s and 17x10s or larger. Those would require cutting the body.

What offsets did you guys settle on to get everything to fit, or is that top-secret information?

Its top secret because we didn't calculate it! We were working off of the backspacing from the hubpad and not offset. It is probably a bit higher than stock since we tucked in the wheel as much as possible but also extend out some too.

We ran these wheels on the street car at the local Porsche Club event. Just missed getting the SSP-Prepped 911 Turbo with A6s vs our RS-3s. My fault for leaving the swaybar too stiff! In anycase, not a bad outing on the Hankook RS-3s with their 140 treadwear rating! Definitely better than stock.

Ah, I understand. what backspacings did the final wheels come out to, then?
