By the way, would Hypercos be an option?

LionZoo, potentially. Both Eibach and Hyperco are excellent, afterall most of BOE's engines use Eibach valvesprings. Unfortunately, both have a spotty delivery record which is why need 2 sources.

My preference is definitely Hyperco. To the point where I'd be looking to swap out Eibachs if these came with Eibachs.

Lionzoo, is there a specific reason you prefer hyperco to eibachs?

In my experience, Hypercos are generally more consistent in terms of rates from spring to spring as compared to Eibachs.

Yes I know it's odd that I care so much about spring consistency on what is the bottom of the line Penske option. However, my general suspension philosophy has always been to get a spring, get the correct damping curve to match that spring, and be done with it. I am not a fan of adjusters.

Just for reference - if one were to buy these then have them rebuilt as single or double adjustable in a couple years or so, what would the cost be?

I'm thinking of a tiered upgrade path for a driver who is evolving and whose car is also evolving slowly.

Ubersoph, You would need different shaft assembly and I would guess ala carte, fairly pricey. I will check however.

LionZoo, PM sent.

Thanks guys!

Gunpilot, We should see the first sets in a couple weeks and maybe 3 weeks out for the later ones. We'll contact all the deposit holders when they are ready to ship to us from Penske to collect the balance.

Ubersoph, getting back to your question: Due to economies of scale pricing etc. it will be fairly pricey to upgrade. Cost of parts to upgrade to singles is about $380/corner. Doubles basically only retains the body so completely not cost effective. However, your shocks will have significant value in the used market(notice the lack of Penskes for sale used) so that would probably be the best option.

WHAT!!! Sell my Penske D/As...you would have to PRY my DEAD COLD FINGERS off of my lotus (that meaning it is totaled as well) and then you could have what is left of my Penskes at that point!

2005 Lotus Elise Graphite Grey - Salvaged title started the SSM build!!!
Maverick ML8 - Other daily
2005 VW Passat Station Wagon TDI (harder to find than the lotus?)
2005 Lotus Elise Starlight Black - Sold

Thanks for checking - sounds like I should just save my pennies for a DA set next season or keep an eye out for used.

Free bump!
